I am currently seperated from my beloved Chromecast and TV so have to make do without my Youku, WeTV and iQIYI. So I am rewatching Ancient Detective. I watched it many moons ago in a very chaotic fashion, so I made a promise to rewatch it, but slower. It's even better than I remember - a #wuxia detective tale, very classic in its set up; focuses on brotherhood and fighting between sects, the whole deal. Every character is unique! If you've not watched it, give it a try!
There aren't many films where you can see Jet Li dressed as a chicken fighting a fire-breathing centipede manned by heretic monks, but 'The Last Hero In China' is probably one of the better ones.
Want to thank @jenxi and @chungliwen for putting up with my nagging! Now I get to enjoy #wuxia novels by Gu Long and Jin Yong and the fansubber's hard work.
FYI I always find fansubbed English translations superior to "official ones" as lots of love is put into it.
Gu Long's novels don't seem to get the same love as Jin Yong's, so there are less TV adaptations to enjoy. Meteor, Butterfly, Sword is a gritty, dark wuxia tale that you rarely see these days. #CDramas#CDrama#Wuxia#TV#Entertainment
Watching Cheng Yi as the nerdy judge in Draw the Line and then watching him as the swordsmaster Li Xiang Yi in #MysteriousLotusCasebook will give you massive whiplash, guaranteed. I mean, I totally know this is the whole point of acting, but he just looks. SO. NORMAL. in #DrawTheLine lol.
Anwyay, Cheng Yi is one of the very few actors who does convincing and balletic fight choreography. I love his fight scenes 😍
Dudes I am so indescribably happy that there will be another Jin Yong adaptation. If I am not mistaken, a series of dramas will be made based on Jin Yong's stories. The trailer looks magnificent and really reminds me of the wuxia dramas I used to watch. Oh please let this be good 🙏
I have finally completed watching #AJourneyToLove - verdict: Excellent! It has great storytelling, an outstanding cast, awesome character development, and a strong portrayal of women. However, it tried to squeeze too much at the end and suffered for it, but IMHO it didn't tank the show at all. A highly recommended show.
#CDramas can go downhill towards the end fast, so I prayed that #AJourneyToLove could retain its quality till the very end. We are finally at the final week. I am happy to report that it's still good. Then again, there are 6 episodes left & things could still go wrong. 😅
So 🙏 pray that we get a satisfying ending, whether it's a happy one or not. None of that open ended nonsense pls!
#AJourneyToLove is still going strong for me. I keep waiting for that other shoe to drop - either it slides in quality or everyone dies or something, but on the whole it has been a fun #Wuxia with a surprising number of funny moments and great fight scenes. Have not watched a #CDrama this fun in a long while, but then it has all my favourite tropes - brotherhood, strong female leads 😁 Also, I like that the woman is the one doing the pursuing here!
Currently watching this #Wuxia drama, #AJourneyToLove & I love it. There are assassins, imperial guards and a princess! The image makes it look like a light-hearted comedy - it is, but it is more than that.
Hmm hmm so #Youtube served me Word of Honor trailers and it looks compelling enough for me to file under "will watch for sure".
But each time I watch Zhang Zhehan appear on screen I feel so sad about what happened to him 😢
#AJourneyToLove is one of those rare #CDramas with gorgeous cinematography. Saw the first episode and was immediately hooked. Assassins, embroidered guards, spies, oh my! Trying to control myself and stockpile the episodes so that I don't have to wait too long for new episodes 😁
Oh what the heck, I'm watching this live. Director, you better not slap me with a tragic ending.
Watching ep 1 & whooboy the CGI is rough. However, I like the costumes & sets which has a more realistic vibe and not the too-bright sheen of a lot of #xianxia dramas.
#MLCWatchParty I watched the first 1.5 episodes on the train on Thursday night and really enjoyed them. Love an epic battle on a ship! I feel like there are more ship battles in wuxia than we usually talk about. 🤔
We have a wuxia wheelchair! This one has apparently useless gears all over the back of it (not shown). Someone ought to make a study of the design, use and presentation of #wheelchairs in #wuxia series, seriously.
Found this short drama through a random search and am enjoying it immensely. The fact that I binged through this on a weekday is testament to how well written it is, and the quality of the production isn't bad at all. Sure there are some contrived, convenient moments but on the whole it is a satisfying revenge drama 😁
Found the full series on Youtube condensed into a 3-hour movie 😍
Surprising even to me. Some people are theorising that it is due to its ending.
And in truth, when I heard about #MyJourneyToYou's ending, eventho I don't understand the details, it felt very... manipulative? Cliffhanger-ish? Imagine investing all that time watching something only to get a cliffhanger in return. I would be so pissed off.
With so many shows waiting for my attention this is not a priority.
Those who have watched it - what do you think of the rating?
