My

This is an experiment with Mastodon threads. I post loads of plant photos here and thought that I might be able to organise them by garden using sub-threads.

Every time I add a photo, I’ll edit the head post of that garden thread, so if you like the head post, you’ll automatically get a notification.

Not sure how this will work, let’s just jump in 😅

This is rose 'Blush Noisette' from another angle, looking across the Teifi valley/estuary.

Columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris) - not sure which cultivar, the species is dark blue/purple.

Edible flowers & allegedly leaves earlier in the season. Haven't tried them myself!

Tumbling Ted (Saponaria ocymoides) in the gable end bed of the garden, planted by the client. Initially I was quite resistant, it isn't but then, it is their garden! 😆

It’s grown on me (pun intended), billowing pink floriferousness and spilling-over-ness in the early part of the season.

Edit: it's actually Saponaria ocymoides, not S. officinalis. Both have common name of Soapwort. Thank you Marco 🙂

Common Drone Fly (Eristalis tenax) on Daffodil Garlic (Allium neapolitanum). This is in the south facing bed by the track at the front of the house, backed by a 3m high wall.

Seriously, this edible onion has been an absolute star in the garden, a mass of star shaped white flowers in late summer

Beyond the at lies the

I say orchard. There are 2 plum trees 'Early Prolific' & 'Late Victoria', 2 cherries 'Sunburst' & 'Merton Glory', Blackcurrants, Redcurrants and a Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa), which replaced the poor Saskatoon (Amelanchier alnifolia) as it was way too dry.

In the orchard is stands of one of my favourite Bugle (Ajuga reptans). Makes a lovely ground cover in the right conditions.
