45 years ago today, Unit 2 of the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Harrisburg, PA suffered a partial meltdown.
12 days earlier the movie “The China Syndrome" had opened nationwide in the US. Many people, including reporters, flocked to the movie to wrap their heads around a nuclear meltdown.
Now, the movie is forgotten, but the cesium-137 released by the nuclear accident (along with other radionuclides) remains embedded in the ecosystem.
Yesterday, we marked the entry into force of new EU rules to empower consumers in the green transition.
Under those rules, companies will be forbidden to make vague environmental claims, such as stating that they are ‘green’ or ‘environmentally friendly’ if
they cannot demonstrate that they truly are.
Consumers will be getting better and more harmonised information on their legally guaranteed rights and on products’ durability and reparability.
My mother & sister sold their house & are downsizing a bit. They're going through old photos & found one of me, my sister & my dad from my hs graduation, 1992. That was one of the last times I was happy to see him. We were estranged for 16 years before he passed, and only spoke very occasionally before that. He didn't come to my wedding. And he didn't acknowledge either son's birth.
I would never abandon my kids. I think he's such an asshole for doing that to me.

Does any state still use the electric chair for death penalty purposes? I would think it would be lethal injection now, but you've got certain states(looking at you Texas) that it wouldn't surprise me if they still do it the most inhumane way allowed by law. #ActionMatinee
