I just tooted 🎺 earlier about finding myself behind a #Mazda#MX5#Miata and one of the responses mentioned the dynamics etc.
I’ve never been a big fan of manuals (although I love shiftable automatics) but maybe I should drive the right one to understand why so many #WeirdCar fans desire them.
I’ve driven a Golf Mk I manual (not GTi), a Mercedes-Benz (hated it), and a few other nondescript manual rentals in various guises.
If you had to drive ONE manual to understand, which would it be?
#WeirdCar fact knowers. What are some relatively pedestrian cars high profile exotic car owners love to drive? I’ve heard Christian von Koenigsegg drive an NA miata. Gordon Murray drive a smart roadster before he got an alpine. I think the CEO of Porsche daily drives an American pickup truck in Germany.
Did this drive exactly a year ago. Last year we had to drive through floodwaters and everything was green. This year it’s very dry and there are out of control bushfires just to the west. #WeirdCar#WeirdCarMastodon#ElNino
@ukuku really sorry that things are getting to you. 😢
I’ve found such a balance between the news and #WeirdCar stuff on Mastodon, it’s a much happier place than #Xitter was for me.
If you don’t follow her already @GottaLaff is an incredible news source, whose personal life also creeps into her feed occasionally, so it’s not sterile or cold-hearted news.
This is a “memory” from December 2017 taken with an iPhone X — the image will be heavily compressed on Mastodon — while leaving a rest area for a driver swap on I-70 WB (luckily, no snow or ice that time).
We used to travel that 1,015 mile trip (each way) once or twice a year in our Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and later, in our E-Class. Now, we just fly to Denver and grab a rental car.
Walking home from dropping off the truck, spotted Dylan’s namesake store. It’s closed, but he left his #Bentley cruiser parked out front, and his weekend fun car parked on the other side of the street. 😜
Wrong color of leather in the Bentley though. Don’t know how that could’ve happened! 😱
Truck purchased in January 1994. Getting an oil change, service for the a/c, the fuel gauge, and the tailgate release.
You can see the broken plastic clips which are supposed to hold the metal rods for the latches in place. One of them I wired in place about 5 years ago! 😂
Had to sneak the mileage photo in while moving or I would have missed it, but I didn’t look at my phone for more than a second. Left the rest to chance. The result turned out okay. 😉
Here’s a pair of #weirdCars for you, Mastodon! It’s a Daimler-Benz Unimog and a Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer! The Unimog is an off-road capable, do-it-all farm and construction workhorse, and the Pinzgauer is an Austrian-made troop carrier, fitting 10 crew in the bed of the truck. Owners of both vehicles use them for off-road adventures and for transporting many kids and their friends (now tethered with aftermarket seat belts) to amusement parks.
Here’s a #weirdCar for you, Mastodon! It’s a 1945 MG TC, the first MG automobile to make it big in the USA. Rumor has it that Edsel Ford, Henry Ford’s son, was the first customer this side of the Atlantic.
This unit has been restored and repainted in Toyota Supra Red. With its sports car pedigree and beautiful proportions (and suicide doors!), this car looks stunning almost eight decades on.
