If you are bringing your #flow3r to #37c3 remember that there is a huge new firmware update available. Highly recommend to flash that either before or at the flow3r assembly which will likely have a flash station.
A small but important quality of life feature of #flow3r firmware 1.3 is that the battery icon is not just a complete lie any more and now shows you a fairly accurate state of charge.
It uses a look up table in the background that was created by profiling a full discharge cycle of the stock battery using a Joulescope.
Update your #flow3rbadge to firmware 1.3.0 and get Petal Hero from the app store - it's OUT NOW! Comes with 5 songs bundled, but you can extend it with songs for #FretsOnFire and other similar rhythm games. Here you can see me playing Jono Bacon's version of the Free Software Song - though I do better when not in front of the camera 😂 @flow3rbadge#flow3r#CCCamp23#37c3#micropython
We are happy to announce the next firmware update 'sn00w' v1.3!
The team has been hard at work since #cccamp23 and it comes with a huge amount of improvements to your #flow3r!
CO2 sensor attached to the Qwiic port on the #flow3r
Was quick work to adapt a CircuitPython library for the SCD40 to Micropython which runs on the #flow3rbadge
Will be released as an App Store app for the 1.3 firmware release.
The #flow3r firmware team has been hard at work since #cccamp23 to bring a huge load of new features and better performance.
A 1.3 release is near. If you would like to test some of the new changes you can flash the fairly stable development nightly release at https://flow3r.garden/flasher/
All in the browser, no need to install anything and takes only a few seconds.
Do keep in mind that it will remove all of your previously installed apps.
@flow3rbadge Meine #Flow3r, die mir ein lieber Freund vom #cccamp23 mitbrachte, da ich nicht kommen konnte 😞, zeigt eine rot leuchtende LED und sonst passiert nix. Was muss ich tun? Danke!
ah, beautiful!
designing the art on this badge was very fun, though it went through quite a few changes before we got to the final! take a look ^^ #flow3r#flow3rbadge#cccamp23
It's been over a year of pure dedication to the @flow3rbadge and I'm quite happy how it turned out (just look at the list of apps written so far). Wouldn't have been possible without all the people involved (and some crazy last minute effort during camp).
Had to essentially turn off my phone since the end to camp to wind down and catch as much sleep as I could get.
Now it's time to face reality again and work on all that stuff which piled up since last year...
And here are the results of the battery discharge profile.
The outcome will make it into firmware v1.3.
The discharge happened in 26°C room at ~650mW or roughly 0.05C which is about the average discharge in most apps.
This yields a battery runtime of roughly 11-12h with moderate use (no WiFi).
Currently the firmware reports 0% at half the capacity.
Also surprisingly the actual capacity is spot on at 2Ah.
Tip: Instead of saying "Stop using Chrome" or "Use Chrome instead of Firefox", try saying "I have written, and the Firefox project has accepted, a patch that adds a 'profiles' feature equal in ease-of-use to that of Chrome". That probably would be a lot more convincing
