Are there any iOS apps that work with a USB-C console cable on an iPhone 15 or iPad? Would be really handy to be able to use with a mobile device in a pinch. I already SSH from my phone using Prompt, but sometimes you need to connect to things that have lost network access or you don’t know their IP.

Timely Apple updates must be in your supplier SLAs
For business, it is also important to ensure your suppliers are equally committed to the platforms you use. That means ensuring third-party suppliers don’t just update their software with Apple OS support months or weeks after release, but strive to keep step with Cupertino.

I totally forgot to share this here! I wrote a post on how to run a macOS Security Compliance audit/remediation across multiple versions of macOS using Jamf. Hope people find this useful!

FFS people. When referring to our favorite computer made by Apple, the brand is Mac. It is not MAC, which is alternately Macau, Medium Access Control, or possibly a cosmetics firm.

TIL that using the standard user defaults functionality is going to require special privacy declaration. Other troublesome API includes getting the modification date of a file and figuring out how much disk space is available…

What's next, you must declare each For loop that you use within your app? Beyond stupid.

chrisgrande,

@paul trust me, as a I'm in a constant fight to shield my users from the barrage of 's recent security prompts, dialogs, and confusion.

Dialogs like this are great because they never work so they just invariably add an extra meaningless step to the process and remind you of how much they slow you down every time it runs into you

chrisgrande,

@stevestreza being a I think I have 9 or so for my job and this dialog gets an eye roll from me every time I see it.

Taking a look at the new animation APIs and one thing seems to be missing. While you can animate between two symbols there seems to be no way to seamlessly transition between two states — for example drawing a slash thru an icon or animate a badge appearing.

chrisgrande,

@victor yea, seems like an odd oversight — especially with the new component creation they added. I was mostly looking at topics during so I missed this.

Would have been something I would have brought up in one of the Q&As. I'll probably file Feedback once I do some more testing.

This is the best I can get out of the built in animations.

WiFI SF Symbol animating to a slashed out version. Animation is just a Down/Up Fade/In out transition instead of the slashing drawing thru the icon,

First flight since 2019!

Flying out of PHL, I always check to make sure that they haven’t replaced the old Mac Minis running snow leopard for their signage. They haven’t! These things have been here since at least 2012.
