Realising that it's now over two years since I had spine surgery after a herniated disc . So thankful for simple things like being able to sit/walk without pain, only long-term issues is a small patch of numbness in one foot. Compared to the at times 10/10 pain of #Sciatica, life is sweet 🌈 😀 #Health
I stole a chair in a classroom yesterday. It's the only chair I've sat on in weeks that doesn't make my sciatica worse.
As I was afraid to go to campus jail because of it, I replaced it with an old chair that was in my office and that I didn't use.
Look at it with its nice blue tones and the exact right amount of softness (it's actually hard but with a very thin layer of foam or something like that).
If you saw my office right now, you'd laugh. I'm literally playing musical chairs as sitting on any one chair for too long becomes excruciatingly painful. I usually alternate with long walks on campus, but it's difficult to do when I'm busy like during midterms - that's now.
Still under the thumb of the old #sciatica at the mo. Doing lots of "nerve flossing" exercises and spine decompression. Bloody bodies. If we'd paid for these bodies we'd want our money back (or we'd be paying an expensive contract to keep upgrading to new models).
A couple years ago my back got really bad. It had been getting worse over the years, and it got to the point that I couldn't even walk. I'd fall down because the pain was so bad-- all the way down my leg. Never felt anything like it. I went to this pain place (Pain Stop here in Phoenix) and they have an on-site chiropractor and physical therapy both, both of which I used for months. Turns out, I had gotten sciatica really bad, and I had to get the back injections (they also refer out there to the place across the hall) along with the other stuff.
I also try to incorporate yoga into my days now, and I use one of these kneeling chairs. I love it, and I can't say enough good things about it. My wife thinks it's the weirdest thing ever. 😂 It took a TINY bit of getting used to, but not much, at least for me. Makes you sit up straighter, you get up and move more, it's fantastic. Highly recommend if you have back issues. Sitting on a chair with all your torso's weight on your tailbone all day is NOT good for you.
