It's April 2008 at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco. I continue negotiations with two potential acquirers of ReadWriteWeb: CMP and Ziff Davis Enterprise. One invites me to dinner, but it turns out three's a crowd. (This post could almost be an episode of Fawlty Towers! Fawlty TWOers?) https://cybercultural.com/p/029-dinner-at-two/#InternetHistory#Serialization
I've just tagged the 1.1 release of #Serde for #PHP. Now with improved value object support, so you can deserialize properties directly into their own validated value object!
I'm about to venture into the wilds of #Rust#serialization for the next enhancement to #vdash and stumbled on an excellent article from @mo8it about improving serialization performance.
It happens to be a great introduction to using #serde as well as how to speed the whole process up considerably.
Has anybody migrated from #Marshmallow to #msgspec for #JSON request/response serialization/deserialization and validation? Or at least given msgspec a try with #Flask?
I kinda have a hard time taking projects referencing #Unix#philosophy seriously.
"Do one job and do it well" is so ill-defined as to be useless. So the typical result is to simplify the program into uselessness by externalizing the complexity onto the user and their environment instead of handling it properly within the program itself because that's "bloat".
And don't get me started on the #serialization hell of unstructured text pipes as your primary #IPC.
I wasn't sure what I could do and when @judy2k said "It doesn't have to be Django specific" I thought "why not put cbor2 up on the board?"
Thanks to all the folks who came up and asked questions, and especially to the 3 people who got deep into the weeds with me debugging IEEE float16 decoding and timezone encoding!
Some discussion points on wider understandings on semantics in the context of `context` within Fediverse environments
