Went to Eddystone Lighthouse this morning, then to Little Blue Lake, can confirm it is blue. And did a nice short walk through the Myrtle forests in the Blue Tiers. After that we visited a dairy/fromagerie; and Halls Falls (photos of that on the photog.social account).
Obtained cheese, bread, honey, visited a lighthouse (took the tour), saw a giant penguin letterbox, found a very furry echidna then ate said bread, cheese and honey.
We went for a pleasant 90 min cruise on the Lady Nelson this afternoon. I pulled on some ropes to raise/lower sails as well, because what pirate wouldn’t partake in sailing the ship?
Getting dinner at the Nubeena RSL.
Some kids are playing pool.
The barman is very nice but could be nicely decorated with a tin foil cap (my use of a card to pay got me a friendly notice that we need to use cash so the govt wouldn’t take it away)
That was an excellent cruise. We circumnavigated Maria Is. including nosing in to a sea cave, setting a blowhole, visiting some seals, traversing a 2m swell that had us momentarily weightless, before the weather improved and we had a calm cruise up the western side of the island.
Then went for a walk, saw many wombats, some birds, and roos & a pademelon.
If you’re in to geology, there’s a visible unconformity on the eastern side, exposed and easily seen. Is there junction on metamorphic rock below, and limestone layers above.
We then proceeded to Richmond, saw the famous bridge, ate a Scollop Pie, bought cakes and chocolates (the essentials) and was interrupted by this noisy Variety charity Bash vehicle playing a siren down the Main Street. #tassie2023
On the way back to camp, we had to stop for yet another Echidna crossing the road, but this time I could reach the camera. Shot through the windscreen in an idling vehicle, so the quality is crap, but there it is walking across the road.
In the afternoon we drove to The Wall (an art installation at Derwent Bridge), got snowed on again, then on to the Franklin River Nature Trail were we encountered a LOT of moss.
