Didn't get enough sleep to do coding, so I'm switching hats and started working on some art using , just to see how long it will take me. Here's a ship, a carrack to be precise, made in about 2 hours.
Edit: any feedback is very welcome!

A dramatic view of rigging located at the bow of a historic Downeast Clipper Ship docked at a pier in the beautiful little harbor of Camden, Maine. The perfect addition to the walls of any coastal inn.

Threatening Skies

With threatening skies forming at sea, a Maine Windjammer quietly glides past Burnt Island Light as her crew prepares the ship for their entry into Boothbay Harbor.

There comes a point when we can eat no more because our bodies simply must have time to digest what we have taken in.

So it is with knowledge, or what passes for knowledge, or facts, or "news," -- there comes a point when we must stop ingesting and take time to review and ponder over, analyze and question, think upon and contemplate what we have taken in.

Slow, easy, quiet:

Nature is in no hurry,

And neither am I.

We don't always have to be in the thick of things, in the midst of all the action. Sometimes, many times, it's good to step far enough away that you get a different perspective.

Away from the noise.

Exciting day on the water, but any day you're on the radio with Coast Guard is exciting. Happily, it was more exciting for somebody else and we were merely standing by to render assistance. Didn't finish the race, but we didn't break anything, didn't lose anyone.

Back down the lake, our club's education director was missing for half an hour, but had been picked up by a jet ski almost immediately. She was safe, the person we assisted was safe, and we got in a pre cold front sail.

the SailGP event in my hometown's backyard didn't accidentally stumble into a marine mammal sanctuary. it picked one as its event venue. so the crying among those profiting from the event (including politicians making ideological profit) about a stop race order after a Hector's dolphin sighting was pure theatrics. those catamarans have a top speed > 100kph! 🤬 ⛵️🐬 https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/mediawatch/audio/2018932066/cranky-claims-drown-out-facts-in-sailgp-dolphin-drama

They all had something to do, and each valued the contributions of the others.

And because they were friends, they listened as much as they spoke, and even if they disagreed on issues, it didn't stop them from working together toward the common goal of moving that boat forward and enjoying the day.

2nd good news piece is I'm able to get back to lessons this year too. I was with DSA several years ago. I need to start anew again because it's been too long since I got my White Sails certification levels. DSA lost our homebase when Naden expanded navy infrastructure. We'd shared dock with Canadian Forces assn for years prior to covid. They kicked us out, during covid. I'll be taking lessons from Able Sail Victoria, running out of Oak Bay marina.

This large has run aground - as well as calling PAN PAN on the radio to alert the Coastguard / Harbourmaster and other vessels, as a visual signal 3 balls are displayed on the front mast (this is to the left of the picture). If the vessel cannot be steered, 2 balls are displayed.

This is why in when something has gone badly wrong, we often say there has been a "total balls up" 😁
