"Seven deaths were reported in Cooke County, Texas, near the Oklahoma border, where a tornado Saturday night plowed through a rural area near a mobile home park, officials said. Storms also caused damage in Oklahoma, where guests at an outdoor wedding were injured. Tens of thousands of residents were without power across the region." #SevereWx#TXwx#OKwx#ARwx

NOAA: A dangerous early season heat wave will cointue over South Texas, and intensify in South Florida, through Memorial Day. Record warm overnight temperatures in these areas will provide little to no relief to those without adequate or reliable cooling.
Heat impacts are likely to be highest in South Texas, where heat index readings approaching or exceeding 115 degrees are expected.
Last week, I and millions of #Houston residents experienced a violent up-close demonstration of the damaging winds of a #derecho (pronounced “deh-REY-cho.”)
Luckily, my condominium unit did not sustain any direct damage. However, my wife and I along with our immediate neighbors were trapped until the next morning due to fallen tree limbs blocking our immediate entrance. (See attached photos.) We were also without electrical power until yesterday.
Although power is returning, just eyeballing Houston's temps right now (88F, 66% humidity, 75F dewpoint, 98F heat index) makes me hope all those other folks without power are staying cool. (note: it's May). #Houston#TXwx
