A brief update on my #battery driven #studio. It looks like I'm going to have to invest in #solar cells right now after all, as the #electricity here on this beautiful island is not only exceptionally bad or #unstable in terms of #voltage but also in terms of #frequency, which makes it difficult for the #inverter to recognize a #powergrid as present at all. 😵💫️ Recently, the #volts have dropped at times below 140 while the frequency has hovered beween 40 to 55 #hertz.
Well, let's just say it's a small price to pay for the unclogging of the previous 200+ held back packages. Good thing we have https://snapshot.debian.org/ to "roll back" a little!
So I think I finally found out why in one of my #Devuan#Unstable installs #apt fails to check signatures of packages (or so I hope).
It seems that apt's sig checking function is outsourced to the gpgv (not gpg) program, whose restricted usage is solely to check signatures. In the "broken" 2.2.40 version, apt passes some invalid command-line argumments resulting in failure. But in v2.2.43 this doesn't happen anymore. Not sure if this is surely the cause, but it's getting warmer.
For the first time, mathematicians have proved that planetary #orbits in a solar system will always be #unstable.
Once you account for gravitational attraction between the planets, everything gets complicated. You can no longer explicitly calculate the #planets’ positions and velocities over long periods of time, and must instead ask qualitative questions about how they might behave.
#Sudan, ancient #Nubia, is home to many unique natural & #archaeological treasures. This land of the #Black#pharaohs has even has more #pyramids than its famous neighbour, Egypt – yet there are no visitors, no tourists & no foreign travellers. #CutOff from the rest of the world, Sudan, a former safe haven for international #terrorists, is one of the most #unstable countries on the planet.
