An album I like disappeared from Apple Music for some reason so I’ve had to resort to getting the physical copy and importing it manually. Like a monster. Interestingly the default encoder now is Apple Lossless which is slow but should be good quality. Does make me wonder if I should be re-encoding the boxes of CDs in the attic though. #AppleMusic #Vangelis

Greek composer and musician #Vangelis [known for scoring the films Chariots of Fire (1981) and Blade Runner (1982), among other works] passed away from heart failure on May 17, 2022, one year ago today.
He was reported to have "died of COVID-19 complications".
Weirdness - I went to get remasters of the major works of #vangelis only to somehow miss Albedo 0.39.... With some digging I found out (a) it hasn't been remastered, and (b) it wasn't available as a FLAC down. Huh? Wtf??
Turns out - somehow this album is on Windham Hill, and not UMC - like all his classic works.
What makes this stranger to me is that Windham Hill is normally a company concerned with sound quality. So it's doubly strange that they release m4a's, and didn't remaster Albedo. WTF
