What is your go to brand for cotton-based leggings/bicycle shorts?

I cycle daily and was thinking to update my summer wardrobe with some basic cotton-based (just not too sporty looking) bicycle shorts which I can style with blouses/shirts/longer t-shirts. Looking to wear them for work too so don’t want to get some bad quality/see -through ones. Thanks!

200ok,

A few preliminary Qs for you:

  • Do you have any examples of other leggings or shorts that you like (and what are they lacking)?
  • Most athletic-wear is made from synthetic fabric. Are you willing to consider alternatives to cotton? If so, what other fabrics do you like?
  • Without giving away your location, do you have a preference for brands? (i.e. some people don’t have access to American brands)
200ok,

Have you tried the GAP’s athletic “sister brand” Athleta? It’s hit or miss and I find they’re quality is in between GAP and Lululemon. A few of their pants I can wear to work. It’s a bit pricey but they have regular sales that I take advantage of and have been happy with most of the things I purchased there.

200ok,

I still have Lululemon clothes I bought a decade ago and they still look good.

I find their “align” biker shorts pretty flattering because they don’t squeeze at the openings, but I get a longer length (6 inch) because I found the shorter ones would ride up. They’re also a more breathable (thinner but not see-through) fabric that’s nicer for summer.

200ok,

Getting “dumped” (for being on the non-consenting side of a break up.)

200ok,

There are a number of dysphemisms that are used to signify a person displaying symptoms of mental illness:

  • crazy
  • whack job (or whacko)
  • lunatic
200ok,

“Booze-hound” to mean someone with an alcohol addiction

200ok,

Some people call a therapist a “shrink”.

200ok,

Back when I was in high school, I remember people calling introverts and goths “freaks” (i.e. people who are outside the “norm”.)

200ok,

and someone who is addicted to drugs is sometimes called a “junkie”.

200ok,

And I’ve heard someone with a physical disability is called (cringe) a “gimp”. Ugh.

200ok,

i.e. “boring” 💪

200ok,

I’ve seen women wearing “90s style straight leg” jeans lately. It feels like a weird time for jeans right now.

200ok,

I don’t know Shangela, but I’ve been around enough people that have “made it” to know that money changes people. For better, or worse.

200ok,

Absolutely

200ok,

Do you think it will ever be possible to do that for all the Lemmy instances?

200ok,

Nothing. I keep walking.

I’ve matured enough to realize they were probably being abused at home. And while it wasn’t fair they took it out on me, some people are dealt a really bad hand and aren’t equipped with the tools or support to overcome it.

Also, they committed suicide recently so there’s that.

200ok,

I’ve seen a few comments in this thread that make me wonder whether bullies actually know they’re bullies. Everyone is the hero in their own story, but they must have known on some level.

200ok,

Everything is measured now. That has to add to the pressure.

200ok,

They probably know they’re in the running

200ok,

With the number of people on antidepressants these days, this hits close to home.

200ok,

Same. I ended up getting a laptop with a docking station and it’s a decent compromise.

200ok,

I hate scheduling things… but also don’t call me out of the blue.

Just leave me alone, is all I’m asking.
