@AAMfP@fosstodon.org

I like free software, Kanban and 改善.
I did wwwjdic and gravity Ruby gems.
I've done a Kanban metrics Calc spreadsheet called AAMfP, available on GNU Savannah.
I'm learning to be a proper Scrum Master after 20+ years as a SW developer and I'm creating a TypeScript/React Native App called TKCompanionApp available on F-Droid.

I have a problem with my configuration: I need to for some .
This https://marcoxbresciani.codeberg.page/emacs/emacs.html is my current Emacs config file.
The strange thing that happens is that when I yank into an Emacs buffer some text in Japanese (say, from Internet or Notepad), instead of proper characters I see lots of ??????
Font supports Japanese, I also have Japanese IME.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I just started using Emacs so I'm basically blinding copy config pieces here and there.

GUI Emacs on Windows.
Strange thing is that if I write in Japanese, in the same buffer, it works. 🤷🏻‍♂️

AAMfP,

@laotang
I can try to understand.
I'm pasting from a text file (Notepad++ or webpage) to an org buffer.
Strange thing is that if I write in Japanese in the same org buffer, I can read it properly.

I can try, thanks.
I'm pasting from a text file (Notepad++ or webpage) to an org buffer so shouldn't be weird.
Strange thing is that if I write in Japanese in the same org buffer, I can read it properly.

AAMfP,
@AAMfP@fosstodon.org avatar

@rahguzar
It's utf-8-dos... other fancy thing: I open the file in Notepad++, write (or paste) in Japanese, save, revert the buffer in Emacs and the Japanese is there... 🤷🏻‍♂️

AAMfP,
@AAMfP@fosstodon.org avatar

@rahguzar
C-h ' says it's unmapped.

AAMfP,
@AAMfP@fosstodon.org avatar

@laotang
Thanks.
I have a bunch of things in the config file:

(set-language-environment "UTF-8")
(prefer-coding-system 'utf-8-dos)
(set-default-coding-systems 'utf-8-dos)
(set-keyboard-coding-system 'utf-8-dos)
(set-terminal-coding-system 'utf-8-dos)
(set-buffer-file-coding-system 'utf-8-dos)

Everything seems ok.

@rahguzar
Thanks!
Now I'm home, tomorrow I'll try first thing in the morning.

@rahguzar
Nope.
Doesn't work.

AAMfP,
@AAMfP@fosstodon.org avatar

@laotang
Notepad++ is configured with UTF-8, and I've even tried to copy from browser, paste in Notepad++, copy again from there and paste into Emacs.
No luck.

Are there kid's that are surely (tested) configurable and compatible with server?
Traccar has hundreds of compatible devices (https://www.traccar.org/devices/), but just listed as "XT009" and the like, so I need to spend hours searching each one of them.
Community seems having found some, but are either old (so can't be found anymore on the market) or theoretical (so not tested).
Ideas? Hints?

Teams for the Flow Era

Teams for the Flow Era Teams that are capable of smoothly and swiftly reconfiguring themselves is becoming the norm in the software industry today. Rather than old-fashioned rigid structures and siloed employees, progressive organisations opt for a more fluid approach that allows for responsiveness to shifting conditions. Team members work across multiple projects in these flexible arrangements, contributing versatile skills as needed and…

It seems even too much optimistic.
Doesn't this flow of teams and re-teams clash with Tuckman's stages? Will a new team, also knowing tha maybe after few months will be re-formed, be really willing to properly jell, and so performing?

Some time ago, I've bought the (earlier) version of this tablet (https://microtech.store/e-tab-pro-plus/?v=78533df0a516) to my 8yo kid.
He loves playing with @libreoffice and @GIMP and since warranty expired I think it's now time for GNU/Linux.
I'm quite sure to go with something from here https://www.gnu.org/distros/free-distros.html.en
Probably or or... whatever.
And now let the war begin:

(Kid as well, since last year we saw a bunch of used Nintendo Switch much cheaper than here in Italy!)

Indeed.
And used items in Japan have basically mint conditions!
My son (8yo) is still planning the list of games to buy. 😅
And we have to buy the Switch itself too.

I even have problems in finding 20 minutes per day to practice with Colemak-DH.
I'm not a touch-typer and I've started with my ErgoDash in past summer.
It takes time... 😒

AAMfP,
@AAMfP@fosstodon.org avatar

@alexdeathway
Actually, yes.
Since I've bought the ErgoDash past summer and used it daily, I've noticed that left hand is much more active them right one.
Reading around I found out all other alternate solutions (Dvorak, Colemak and its variants/mods, ...) and it seemed to me that Colemak Mod-DH (a.k.a. Colemak-DH) is much more balanced between left and right.
This, unless I'll have time to evaluate my own layout by studying Italian language Ngrams and the like... but I also have a life to live.

AAMfP,
@AAMfP@fosstodon.org avatar

@alexdeathway
It is. In fact the Colemak-DH is trying to balance the English word pool by moving keys positions to balance the two hands.
