The remains of Carman Hill Fort (probably dating from the iron age some two to three thousand years ago) overlooking the Firth of Clyde from Carman Muir near Renton.

As is typical of iron hill forts, the sites of several other similar hill forts are visible from this location, including Dumbarton Rock, which can be seen in the distance. Incidently, the Dum in Dumbarton comes from dùn, which Gaelic for fort.

Organisations such as #RedCross , #AmnestyInternational , #HumanRightsWatch and the #UN are becoming more unpopular by the day in #Ukraine.

At least, that's the impression I get from the many Ukrainian social media accounts I follow.

Their grievances come down to a perceived 'both sides-ism', where these organisations choose to be tough and/or unhelpful towards Ukraine and too lenient towards #Russia

The most recent example are the comments of #HRW arguing against Ukraine's wish for #ClusterBombs whereas Russia has been using this type of #ammunition since day one.

What do you think about this?

I fear that tomorrow or Thursday we will witness the largest #nuclear disaster the world has ever seen.

The #Kremlin has repeated today that it expects that #Ukraine will blow up the #Zaporizhzhia #npp. That is of course Russia-speak for the fact that they are planning to do this themselves and blame Ukraine.

When the enormous disaster at #Chernobyl happened, it involved only one reactor. The nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia has six reactors. If #Russia decides to blow up all six, it would be one of the biggest disasters the world has ever seen.

I truly hope that I am wrong and there are reasons for Russia not to do this. Mainly that the #fallout would spread to Russia itself (as well as the occupied Ukrainian territories that it has now illegally annexed), it would expose Russian soldiers to radiation poisoning and it would serve little tactical purpose.

But this is Russia. They have consistently done things during this war that made little sense, from starting the invasion in the first place to blowing up the dam at Nova Kakhovna, which left #Crimea without its main source of drinking water. So, blowing up the largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine is not at all unthinkable, especially now that Russia is losing this war.

So, the word is out: #Farage can't bank with #Coutts anymore because he doesn't have the required funds (£3 million in savings or £1 million in investments). According to the bank, Farage has been offered an account with #NatWest

I'm not counting on the faux outrage to quiet down yet. Many #Tory politicians and commentators were happy to take Farage's claim at face value. That's not surprising, because being able to accuse a company of being against #Brexit or being too #woke is a message which many #Conservative Britons are willing to embrace.

Not much has yet been said about it, but expect a deluge of discontent in #Brexit #Britain by the end of this year.

Because then, Britons entering the #Schengen zone, will be required to have their fingerprints taken as well as a biometric face scan, as part of #EES, the EU Entry/Exit System. Britons will also have to pay for an #ESTA type visa.

This is all part of the deal that #BorisJohnson made with the EU.

So, not just the elaborate checking and stamping of #passports anymore. Expect enormous queues at #Dover and lots and lots of complaints about these measures being unfair.
