Someone who’s just doing their first comment is not going to know

Dunno where you live but the market has not cooled on the north east coast. Offers 100k over asking minimum, no conditions, as is.

that PS style is great. i had the knifeless version and security in jamaica took it away from me when i was trying to get on a plane. pretty sure it didnt violate any rules, i bet they pocketed it.

Album,

Lol I said that to the Jamaican airport security and they were like “we’re not TSA”

And I’m like yeah but if they let it through why wouldn’t you and then I got a look so I was like ok enjoy it.

Never got a replacement really. I use a niteize keychain flat tool now. niteize.com/doohickeyr-key-tool

It’s less threatening I suppose and no one has complained yet

Might be a better option than eating garbage tier fast food.

By work they mean things like small measurements related to tooling eg what size is the socket

If you need the data, a solid state recovery specialist may be able to assist you. Surely won’t be cheap as it generally requires reading directly from the flash through soldered wires or jigs.

Yeah I’m satisfied by reading about it though Lemmy so I don’t actually have to go there

Do people just not use the YouTube subscription feed?

I consistently hear people on YouTube complain that the subscribe button doesn’t do anything for viewers, now that channel notifications are controlled by the bell. But it does do something: it puts the videos from that channel in your subscription feed, which is readily accessible on all versions of YouTube. So why do people...

Album,
@Album@lemmy.ca avatar

I’ve never used this notification feature. My YouTube bookmark goes right to my subscriptions and I check that like I check Lemmy and reddit before it

Smn did an extremely short and succinct piece on Peterson. A really quick watch.

Linux loads the gtk libs when your desktop starts because it’s a major component of gnu/gnome. Windows doesn’t until you launch an app that would use it. It’s not a small library.

Album,
@Album@lemmy.ca avatar

Sure… But the point is that it’s an apples to oranges compare when half of gimp is loaded by the OS at boot under Linux and at runtime on Windows.

I don’t use KDE any more so I don’t follow closely. But it used to be significantly slower. I recall some years back they were working to change KDE loading of gtk libs but I’m not sure what came out of that

Album,

You need to have libgtk installed to run gimp. It would be like running a Qt app (what KDE environment and apps are based on, among other apps like OBS, roblox, google earth, virtual box, etc) without libQt. You couldn’t because the dependencies aren’t installed.

Of course nothing is stopping you from running both, except maybe memory limitations on low ram hardware.

Or you don’t install it as you suggest and use alternative apps.

Conversely you even remotely mention the CCP negatively you’ll instantly get a disproportionate amount of down votes and comments compared to how active the thread is

Option 3, user bans.

196 is also spam but we’re not banning that.

Album,
@Album@lemmy.ca avatar

Just like how r/fph wasn’t originally about hating on obese but really pointing out the flaws in logic they use to justify over eating. But we all know what it turned to which got it banned. I’m not sure it was ever as bad as the admins claimed…I think it was more to set an example.

Album,
@Album@lemmy.ca avatar

It’s a misnomer mate… Like how r/trees isn’t about trees and r/tiktokcringe isn’t about anything cringy.

Fph was originally about the broken logic used. Not about hating fat people. Not to say it didn’t turn into that and the misnomer sub name surely didn’t help.

Transit shouldn’t be profitable… But the cost to build an HSR rail (which costs more than traditional rail) that went that distance vs ridership that a Vancouver to Toronto line would see to recoup some of that cost would make it a really tough sell to tax payers.

It’s different in the US with 10x population.

YouTube videos opening in browser?

I’m glad liftoff is opening web links in Firefox now, but I want YouTube videos to open in revanced so as to avoid ads. Slide used to have a built in YouTube viewer, which was great (no idea how it worked but it played zero ads too). YouTube broke it recently before Reddit broke the API, but there’s always Vanced/Revanced…...

Album,
@Album@lemmy.ca avatar

In your system level settings for revanced (eg settings>apps>revanced>open by default) you can control what URLs open in the app. You need to enable the YouTube URLs and then everything will open in revanced.

You can do this with other apps. Like for your Lemmy app to make sure Lemmy links open in it.

Can we cut down the reddit died meta circlejerk, and finally start contributing news links, articles, guides and written posts to Lemmy's instances?

Look, I get it, nerds are happy. This is a big moment. But I am here since 3 years, having been a partial backbone of Lemmy, outside of the devs. WE NEED TO BRING AND CREATE CONTENT HERE, ON ALL INSTANCES. CUT DOWN ON THE META CIRCLEJERK AND BECOME CONSTRUCTIVE. WE ARE NO LONGER ON REDDIT.
