What’s the best app for cataloging a collection of physical movies? Looking for a barcode scanner and iCloud syncing. I’d love a shared library with my wife but basic syncing via iCloud and barcode scanning are the big ones.

@christianselig In your post you said users aren’t allowed to do their own API key… Winston is an up and coming Reddit third party app and they actually walk you through setting up your own API key so I’m curious if this will change for their app. Also generating your own API key for Twitter is a workaround for using some third party Twitter apps and I’m still using spring no problem this way. it doesn’t have as many features as the official app though, like comment threads…

@christianselig On the setup for Winston I believe it said 100-200 requests per second per user was the API limit or something like that. They claimed it’s very high and super hard to hit. I suppose because it’s a smaller app than Apollo was?

Every time something drove a bunch of users to Mastodon, I’d make a point of posting about @mastowatch and how it can help get a feel for different servers. Now those events are almost daily though so I have to just hope the people who need it find it because otherwise it’s all I would ever post about 😂

I feel like issues with widgets on are much more likely to happen with Apps from TestFlight. While the Apps are running stable the widgets really aren’t. A reboot usually fixes it. Apps from the AppStore don’t show empty boxes / outdated data,... for me 🤷🏼‍♂️ anyone else has similar experiences?

Back from my break for a few days with a hot take:

All email apps for iOS/iPadOS mostly suck in some way or another (poor native UI; lack of integrations; lackluster search). Yes I have tried them all.

Mimestream for Mac is the only good, modern email client for Apple users and it can't come soon enough to iPhone and iPad.
