To make science work, scientists must trust each other. How does this change with Open Science?

Submit an abstract to our Panel “A.2 Trust within (open) science” at STS Graz until 02.02.2024!

The US News and World Report just released their annual College Rankings — and you should ignore them.

A reminder that last year their "Chief Data Strategist" somehow admitted in public that every year they screw around with the ranking algorithm until it gives results they like.

What even is a ""data strategist"?

Congrats to the new board! I am very glad to have been part of the former board and joined the growing association on its path. Especially by being "just" a phd student.

I'm very happy with Mastodon as my social media home, and will keep encouraging people to join us here.

I realize many are sure that Threads is antithetical to Mastodon, and they may well be right....maybe even probably. But I'm not so sure. So I've planted a secondary place there: https://www.threads.net/@hildabastianphd

Aschniedermann,

@wagesj45 @hildabast

I am considering to try it out as well. I hope it is not just full of meme accounts as the late twitter.

As PhD student, I only have little experience in being a reviewer in . But I always try to give concrete suggestions for improving unclear sections/sentences/missing information. Being concrete helps to be modest and keep away the idea that there is an 'ideal text' somewhere in my mind (to which my papers would never live up either).
However, this could be a different story if I had to do a review per week...
