Earned my #HalfMarathon PR today on the beautiful #SammamishRiverTrail (SRT): time 1:48:25 pace 8'16”/mile according to #Strava. My watch again generously claims time was 1:42:49. I picked Strava to be the record.

Temp feels like 50F, dew point 47F, cloudy w/ breeze 3.2mph SW. In other words, perfect weather to get PR!

Repeating yesterday’s route aiming for making a PR on 10K, and this happened… 💩

(so my 10K PR remains to be 50:51)

@WTL @recollir I think I have only myslef to blame: 10k = 6.21317 miles, and I stopped the watch at 6.20, and that’s what my watch recorded, but reported 6.21 (?), and neither recognized it’s a 10K run…

More bizarre to me is how Strava interprets the elevation gain: see below from my recent PR run. The route is pretty flat, so my is definitely the correct one. Funny thing is this doesn't happen every time. Any idea?

@WTL @recollir Right after posting this, I noticed after tapping the three dot icon on the upper right in , I got this option “adjust elevation”. This appeared to fix the problem, although the result still doesn’t match ’s.

9.37 miles easy run @ , also testing another pair of : ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25. Result is not good: the lateral side of my right foot hurts after the run (not during)! I blame it on the high stack of cushioning: my theory is my natural reflex to counterbalance the unevenness of the trail surface is interfered/distorted by the cushioning. Does that sound plausible?

Sunday run

We used the tracks through the #windfarm near #Eyemouth to get around. What started as a bright morning had moments of threat in the sky, although we didn't get wet.

18k, tracks and some gravelled service roads.

@Wen Great photos, as always! May I ask if they were taken by a phone?

My dear / friends: I need to ask for advise on picking for runs on paved roads and mildly unpaved trails (photo 1):

  1. ASICS Trabuco Max 2 (photo 2): the middle in weight (~290g), not waterproof. Bouncy w/ rocker design.
  2. Salomon Speedcross 5 (photo 3): the heaviest (~295g), waterproof(?). Big lugs.
  3. Nike Pegasus Trail 4 GTX (photo 4): the lightest (~270g), waterproof. Smallest lugs.

Do you have experience w/ any of these? What would you pick?

@jbigham Thanks — I think Salomon is out then.

Between the remaining two: I like NIKE because they have guards on the heels to stop pebbles from coming into the shoes, and they are waterproof (allegedly). ASICS has nice bouncy feeling and I’m quite used to their shoes.

@jbigham I’m th opposite. I tried earlier HOKA Speedgoat and they are too narrow for me. For waterproofing, I’d prefer not to run in soggy “boats” if I can — yes, personal preference, and a necessity in :-)
