CADmonkey,

Yes, it’s against the law to murder people, very good.

It’s supposed to get cold there this weekend Greg, maybe worry less about migrants and worry more about keeping the lights on.

CADmonkey,

The most obvious one I have experience with is guys refusing to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle because they’re so tuff and manly and they “just won’t crash”.

I wear a helmet because it will protect my beautiful face if I fall off, and because it keeps bugs and birds from hitting the aforementioned rugged bearded handsomeness at high speeds thus preventing some accidents, and because I can have one with a cool design on it.

CADmonkey,

Obviously the cops and prosecutors are real shitheads here, but I think some blame goes to a piece of shit principal who woukd call the police on an 11 year old.

CADmonkey,

Men, proudly drag that battered and cracked android phone out on the first date, it’s a litmus test for shallow people, apparently.

I went on a first date with a girl I met from work. She farted loud enough to be heard over drunken yelling and music in the steakhouse we were in, immediately after saying “I don’t get embarassed”.

In a couple of weeks, we will have been together for 16 years. We’ve been married for 14 years. We cook together every evening, we hold each other whenever we are in the same room for more than five minutes, and on the rare nights where we aren’t taking each other’s clothes off, we fall asleep wrapped around each other. I would have missed out on a perfect relationship if I had judged her for a phone.

CADmonkey,

So, the bonus goes to the guy who was playing Factorio when he should have been working?

CADmonkey,

My ten year old kid said “Bring out your dead!” The last time we walked by one of the bell ringers. Im not sure if I should be proud or not.

CADmonkey,

John Deere is creating a national security issue by not allowing tractors to be repaired, change my mind.

CADmonkey,

It’s not finished. It will look like this when they complete it. It’s a nature bridge.

CADmonkey,

I hope you don’t have children that you’re forcing to be babysitters. I know people who did that growing up, their relationship with their parents is… not good.

The insidious rise of "tradwives": A right-wing fantasy is rotting young men's minds (www.salon.com)

If the average American were asked what they imagine the priorities of the feminist movement are these days, most people would likely cite concerns like “fighting abortion bans” or “getting justice for sexual violence victims” or boring mainstays like “equal pay for equal work.” But if you listen in to the world of...

CADmonkey,

I’ve heard the term “tradwife” before, and it always seems to equal “Someone who will be a new mom, but does what she’s told”.

Based on direct personal experience I recommend a witch wife. Intelligent, capable, not submissive (unless she wants to be) and definitely not helpless.

CADmonkey,

I did this to someone once. Had no idea who he was, then he told me and I admitted the name sounded familiar but I still wasn’t sure, he seemed a bit confused, but overall relieved.

I didn’t know who Garth Brooks was at the time. I at least knew his name after that. It was a long time ago, I was just an autistic weirdo in a Slipknot shirt.

CADmonkey,

The only reason I even knew The Escapist existed is because of ZP.

CADmonkey,

I just want to drop in and remind everyone that “conversion therapy” is just a fancy way to say “child torture”.

CADmonkey,

People whining about 3D printed guns always forget about the much more terrifiying things that can be made with a 3D printer - like a kamikazie drone.

CADmonkey,

Mine was “Not all women like being touched the same way”. As in, some women can’t reach orgasm from penetration alone, but some do. Some want direct pressure on their clitoris, some do not. And this all makes sense, not everyone likes the same things.

And that is, for me at least, where the fun is. I like to figure things out. I like to see how stuff works. And women are pretty awesome. What would be a better evening than figuring out exactly how to pleasure someone, through communication and experimentation? I’m still finding ways to push my wife’s buttons 14 years later.

CADmonkey,

It’s so wild how much I kept myself from meeting/talking to women and staying inside because I “knew” they wouldn’t like me.

I worked up the nerve to ask a beautiful woman what she was doing after work, and this stunning 32 year old blonde actually blushed, she got nervous, and she invited me to her house where we hooked up. This gave me the confidence to ask another woman for her email address months later, and I’ve been happily married to that one for 14 years.

CADmonkey,

Anon accidentally fails to be awkward, runs to escape weird nrw feeling.

CADmonkey,

Human embryos (and probably others) start out female, and grow the male parts a fee weeks later. There is probably someone lurking who can give better details but that’s the gist of it. Thats why men have nipples.

CADmonkey,

The last time I really lost my temper with someone was with a nurse who told my wife (who was dialated to several cm already) that she wasn’t really in labor and she needed to go home.

There has been a few times before that where a doctor would ask her what was wrong in a normal visit, and she would answer, and the doc would ask me if that was correct. She’s my wife, not my child, why are you treating her like she doesn’t know what’s wrong?

CADmonkey,

“What’s your greatest weakness?”

“Interpreting the semantics of a question but ignoring the pragmatics.”

“Could you give me an example?”

“Yes, I could.”

The End of Roe Is Having a Chilling Effect on Pregnancy (www.politico.com)

Polling conducted in August by All In Together, in partnership with polling firm Echelon Insights found that 34 percent of women aged 18-39 said they or someone they know personally has “decided not to get pregnant due to concerns about managing pregnancy-related medical emergencies.” Put another way, poor or unavailable...

CADmonkey,

Late last year, I arranged to get a vasectomy because my wife is amazing, and I don’t want to put her through a pregnancy in my state. The urologist who performed the surgery said there had been a significant uptick in the amount of vasectomies he had scheduled because of the recent abortion ruling.

What are some commonly known facts that are too bizarre for you to believe to be true?

For me it is the fact that our blood contains iron. I earlier used to believe the word stood for some ‘organic element’ since I couldn’t accept we had metal flowing through our supposed carbon-based bodies, till I realized that is where the taste and smell of blood comes from.

CADmonkey,

Speaking as someone who grew up in the 1980s…

Micro-SD cards almost don’t make sense to me. I’m not saying I don’t believe in them, because of course I have a few of them. Obviously they exist and they work. But. They’re the size of a fingernail and can hold billions of characters of data. I uwve a camera that ive put a 128 GB microSD card in. A quick tap on the calculator tells me that’s over 91,000 3.5" floppy disks. Assuming they’re 3mm thick, that’s a stack of disks 273 meters tall. But this card is so tiny that I have to be careful not to lose it.

CADmonkey,

I remember when I first applied for a job in a fabrication/machine shop. One of the questions in the interview was “Do you know how to read a tape measure‽” followed by “demonstrate that you can use a tape measure” along with some other fun ones like “what is the difference between these two pieces of material” (one was aluminum, the other stainless) and other such things. I remember being surprised/disappointed that there were grown people who couldn’t read a tape measure.

I’ve worked in machine shops and drafting offices for years now, and I’m no longer surprised by people who can’t use basic measuring tools. Still disappointed though.
