Finishing up a mastering job today, listening to some rhythm guitar tracks from a producing job, and checking out some revisions for an audio consulting gig.

I've got some mixing to do as well.

Things are wonderful in audio land, and I'm honestly thrilled!

Do you need mixing, mastering, producing, consulting, bass or guitar overdubs, or just general audio help in your music or podcast? I'm more than happy to work with you!

I'm an audio professional with years of experience. I cut my teeth in the all-ages rock scene in Metro-Atlanta. I trained and honed my skills in the Muscle Shoals area of Alabama during the Shoals revival period. I've worked with grammy winning session musicians and independent acts alike!

Hit me up. I'm more than happy to check out your project and see if it's something I can help with!

I might actually name my studio. I've never named a studio before. It's really a mix room, but still, I do overdubs, too.

Right now I'm thinking of using this phrase I typed out on a Dymo to put on my mixer, "There Be Ghosts In Here"

Is it too long? Maybe. Should it say "Studio" somewhere in it? Maybe. It's just one idea.

@DoctorDeathray@retro.social avatar

Do you have an idea for a spooky, not-taken name I could use for my studio? There's a "Haunted Studio," "Ghost Studio," "Haint Blue Studio," and "Specter Sound Studio." So. I don't want to do anything too closer to that. But I love spooky ghosts.

Hello all!

Time to get some funds up as I had to forego one of my jobs this week, which means less pay.

Do you love lo-fi blues rock? Or at least mildly tolerate it?

I recommend checking out my bandcamp and perhaps purchasing some music!

https://doctordeathray.bandcamp.com/

I have quite a number of music collections available, and I'll likely add more soon!

I'm super proud of the work I do with my friends @djsundog @TaxDan and @connor_dylan !

Some of the stuff on here is solo, the live set and 51 Miles From Nowhere is with the full band.

It's a good time, or at least certainly it is a time!

Check it out, support an artist!

Are you musically or podcastally inclined? I'd love to work with you!

I'm an audio engineer, producer, and all around wonderful trans gal who would love to work with you! I can mix, master, overdub, all kinds of stuff!

I'm working with a couple of clients right now, and I'd love to add your project to the roster!

Did you know I have another band? Hurly Burly and the Volcanic Fallout! A group of weirdos from high-school reunited to record the first album at the Ellijay Makerspace. It's the kind of music you can play with toy robots too.

Mostly comprosed of songs we played ten+ years ago, we do have a new(er) track called "Put On a Show" and it's still one of my favorite pieces I've written in awhile.

Purchasing helps me out a ton, and it goes to supporting the arts and artists!

I’m traveling a lot lately (my dog gets to come with me to most places!). But I also have a lot of audio projects going on (which is absolutely delightful!), and I can’t bring a whole studio with me. So. I need to get better with headphones again. I use to be more confident mixing with headphones than I am now. Just gotta learn whatever set I’m going to bring again.

@DoctorDeathray@retro.social avatar

Also! Do you want to work with me? I'm an accomplished engineer. I cut my teeth in the all-ages scene in Metro-Atlanta before honing my craft with legendary engineers and session musicians in Muscle Shoals.

I've moved to the Georgia mountains, and I'm doing weird things with weird people. Part of that is setting up my best mix-room yet. Any travel mix I do goes through its paces in my personal studio at the Ellijay Makerspace.

I'm also doing overdubs for guitar, vocals, and bass at the moment!

Anyway. Check out some of my work at the link below. I can mix, master, record some overdubs, produce, or just geek out about audio gear with you!

Good morning, afternoon, night, whatever works for you! It's and it's time for me to start a way-too-long thread about I produce and music I enjoy!

First up, we have my own album from last year, 51 Miles from Nowhere. This album involves some of the best musicians I've ever worked with. It's filled with raw energy, moody lyrics, and fuzzy guitar.

If you buy the LP, it comes with a copy of the Guidebook to Nowhere (a zine I made set within the fictional Deathrayverse filled with cryptids, an evil corporation, and general creepy vibes).

51 Miles from Nowhere is one of my favorite pieces I've ever released, and I hope you listen to it. My favorite reviews are "I'm not sure I like it" and "It's interesting." (there are also positive reviews, these are just my favorite).

Eli Pop is surfy-psychedelic at its best. The lo-fi vibes are immaculate, and I love listening to it in a colorfully lit room with a drink in my hand. It's All Around is a soothing sort of album that still challenges the listener.

Plus, Eli is an absolute delight to work with. This is another splatter vinyl we offer, and it's absolutely beautiful.

Keeping the thread alive, we have my dear friend, Connor Dylan. He plays keys with my backing band, The Implements of Destruction, but he's an absolutely phenomenal artist and songwriter as well. We're back to politically leaning music, this time a bit more psychedelic. I love the heavy samples used in "Bush" in particular.

I also got to mix this EP, and it's really something I'm glad I got to work on. The vibes are immaculate, the political stance is far, far left, and the hooks are catchy as all get out.

Last band I work with, I promise. The New Clear Lawn Chairs were a sloppy pop-punk band that I never got to see in their heyday, but I absolutely have seen thanks to @ajroach42 bullying Jon into reuniting them. This is the otherwise of the Hurly Burly EP, and the production value is phenomenal for a bunch of young suburban kids. It's sloppy, it's loud, it's not recommend for those with weak constitutions.

On to friends, bands I respect, and bands I like to listen to!

First up we have SMALL, (ok, we are in the process of getting them an LP out, but it's not out yet). They're pervy, sludgy punk from Atlanta. I love the energy they have on stage, and I'm really glad we had them out here in Ellijay. I love Coyote in particular, which is great! It was a single!

This album, Decathexis, is something I listen to often, and something I love.

Young Robot is fronted by a former bandmate of mine, Michael Carter. It's proggy, it's technical, it's super catchy and poppy. I love it. They only have a couple tracks on Bandcamp, and both are phenomenal.

I'm linking No Name as it's my go-to when I'm listening to them, and it loops through my playlists quite a bit.

De3ra is an absolute trip, even if I think they put the 3 in the wrong place (pronounced Debra). The bluesy music is catchy and groovy. It's got a good beat, and you can dance to it.

We had them live for one of our shows, and one of their singers (they trade off), has this wild, low voice I can't quite understand. They're really phenomenal.

Grace and Tony don't have my favorite albums of mine on bandcamp, but this is still good! It's 2010's Americana at its finest, and we all know how much Americana there was in then 2010's. They never rose to success like Tony's brother of the Civil Wars did, but I absolutely prefer Grace and Tony's music.

I'm destroying your timeline, and I'm ok with it.

The Darts are on my friend's label, and I seriously love their classic garage-rock vibes. It's punk adjacent, it's psychedelic adjacent, and it's all dirty and fun. I'll be honest, I've not listened to this latest release I'm linking yet. It just came out recently. I'm going to pick up a copy, and you should, too!

Red Mouth is one of my favorite artists, and a huge influence for me. His blues-inspired, "Shaman Rock" as he calls it is filled with creepy lyrics, odd stories, and, in the case of the album I'm linking, toilets.

I love his story songs. He worked on this album for like ten years or something, and I waited FOREVER to get a copy.

Rabbit Foot Venture is my brother! We made this album on a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder in an old brothel turned record store/practice space and in a basement theatre. Delta blues meets modern stories. Indian Mounds is my favorite track, and I might have to cover it sometime.

I listened to this album so much. Random Conflict's "Tradition Is the Enemy" is punk as fuck, and Bill Conflict is one of my favorite people.

We're back to politically charged, thrash punk, and I'm here for it. Bill loves his guitar and his cats more than anything else, and that energy shows through. The cats don't show up in the album, unfortunately.

Anyway. Enjoy and support independent music!

OH YEAH! One last plug. @ajroach42 and I put together a Public Domain project for this year! It released on Public Domain Day, and features music that entered in the Public Domain this year or earlier. I did some fresh recordings for it, featuring a medley I made of several songs, and Andrew curated a wonderful selection of original recordings. Highly recommend. It's been one of our most popular musical ventures this year.
