Docus,

It’s not a world wide ban is it? How hard is it to add (in Ireland) to the post title?

Docus,

How do you think I worked out that this applies to Ireland? I just don’t like having to check the source to find out that the post is not relevant to me. I accept that the post title is a true reflection of the article’s title, but lacks the article’s context. On a par with click bait titles as far as I am concerned.

Docus,

I have two Epson ecotank printers, one at home and one for small business. Not cheap, but the ink that comes with the printer lasts for years. That is at 30 pages a month or so. Avoid all inkjet printers with replaceable ink cartridges.

Docus,

My Epson eco tanks don’t need any app for setup or printing. What model is yours?

Docus,

We urgently need the ability to move your user account to another instance for that to work. At the moment, it’s not easy to move to another Lemmy instance, I would have to redo subscriptions, blocklists and likely pick a different username.

Docus,

There wasn’t a mass explosion of heads. Not a scientist, but I don’t think empty things can explode.

Docus,

Looks like they were off the mark a bit. May still have made a few little holes in that helicopter.

Docus,

That was what got me to look into piracy. Bought a CD and was unable to copy it to my iPod. Fuck that

Ukraine blows up main railway connection between Russia and China (www.politico.eu)

Ukraine’s security service blew up a railway connection linking Russia to China, in a clandestine strike carried out deep into enemy territory, with pro-Kremlin media reporting that investigators have opened a criminal case into a “terrorist attack.”...

Docus,

It is not the only railway connection. And there is still the original route from before this tunnel was built. So not sure how big the impact is.

Docus,

Not OP, but every now and then I will view all to discover communities I may want to subscribe to. Blocking ones that appear a lot in the ‘all’ feed but are of no interest to me (memes, anime,…) sanitises the list a bit

Docus,

What sort of support? I already see kbin posts in memmy.

Docus,

I’m a Redditor. I don’t like you.

[NLD] my first anduril light (TS10 4000k) (lemmy.world)

My first anduril light, and first small light. Really happy with it. Thanks to you wonderful people, and the ones we left behind on Reddit, I ditched the cheap supermarket zoomies and got my first decent light from Zak’s list, a wowtac a2s. Good recommendation, great light but angled lights aren’t my favourite. Next one was...

Docus,

Thank you for sharing that. It’s better than some other versions I found.

Docus,

No shit Sherlock. Not been to Yale or studied history, but as an amateur armchair general, I came to the same conclusion some time ago.

Docus,

Thank you for sharing that. Personally, I am unlikely to start my own hosting, but hopefully it helps others to make the fediverse stronger

Docus,

Can we just keep this idiot out of the news? I’m really not interested in what he has to say.

Docus,

Not sure what exactly you are concerned about.

Key Boris Johnson aide set key WhatsApp group to auto-delete (www.opendemocracy.net)

The WhatsApp group, called ‘PM Updates’, contained Boris Johnson’s closest advisers and discussions within the group touched on key Covid policies – such as shielding the clinically vulnerable, and the Department of Health and Social Care’s plans for responding to the pandemic....

Docus,

Average joe would be in trouble for just using whatsapp or email for government business. It is against the rules of any government department I ever worked with. Never mind deleting the evidence.

Docus,

Same here. There used to be a little blue book icon showing on read posts, but it’s gone.

Docus,

Upgraded today on iOS, had to re-enter my account and redo setting, effectively it was a re-install instead of update. Love Lemmy, but this was not a good experience.

Docus,

Nice thought, but 5g does not have the same range.

Docus,

Illegal in the netherlands. Not sure about finland

Simplest solution for fragmented communities: Redirect comments to one post (by asking or with new functionality)

EDIT: Thank you for all the great responses! I agree that a forced implementation is no longer the way to go. I’ve left the post as is, aside from this comment, in case anyone wanted to reference part of it. At this point, I think implementation 1 (Sincere Request) is the way to go if anything....

Docus,

Users congregating in a larger community has its own problems if that is on an instance that, for some reason, ends up being defederated by many others. I wish the communities could exist independent from the instances, a bit like usenet.

Arbitrary List of Popular Lights - Fall Equinox 2023 Edition

In honor of Fall Equinox, I've made an updated list of popular lights. Days are getting shorter and nights are getting longer - it might be time for a new flashlight.

@flashlight

Docus,

Today, i got my third light from this list. All solid recommendations by Zak. Wowtac a2s, a right angle 18650, a few years ago. Great for jobs in dark corners of the house or car, but not my favourite for outdoor walks. FC11 was next, great for dog walks. Now I added a TS10, much lower moonlight than the FC11, good around house/hotel at night. Bright but small so good backup if the FC11 ever dies while I’m out. And of course anduril to play with. Big thanks to Zak.
