Three Good Things Today:
2/9/24:

  1. A wonderful buddy who brought me coffee this morning

  2. The electricity is back on--this would have been Day 6 without, so Hooray! We might even get some sun to get the solar panels going this week. Better yet.

  3. The studio will be warm in a little while, so I can get back to work and my hands will be much happier (woop-woop for osteoarthritis! --or not). The paint will also apply like paint, and less like clay. Good!

Three Good Things Today:
1/28/24

  1. Blueberry-lemon-lavender pancakes for breakfast (hey, we hiked yesterday...it's OK once in a while).

  2. Took a drive up to the city--hadn't been there in a long while. Of course I can't go in anywhere for coffee or lunch or whatever, but we walked around and I took a few snapshots, and we enjoyed the change of scene.

  3. Settling down for a quiet, sedate evening before a busy Monday.

Three Good Things Today:
1/27/24

  1. Hiking a little over 10 miles with my buddy--saw lots of birds, and much evidence of wild pigs--but no actual piggos today.

  2. Home and cleaned up after the walk, making supper -- nice calm evening at home

  3. Looking forward to tomorrow, then digging into a busy studio week. Show coming up in April! Yeek! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ (work work work! it'll be fine)

Three Good Things Today:
1/26/24

  1. A nice walk to visit the creek with my buddy, over lunch break

  2. Finishing (except for two tiny details) the tax report I'd been avoiding. Since I was a kid, I've had trouble with numbers: transposing them, forgetting formulae. If I work with them too long, numbers themselves start to look like hieroglyphics, and cease to have meaning to my brain; then I have to take a break.

  3. Getting back to studio work before having to stop for supper

  2. Studio time to focus on the work I need to get done (yesterday brought interruptions--all good, got those out of the way before the next storm rolls through)

  3. A partner on the same frequency: we're different enough that life is interesting and lively, but in tune to the extent that we can understand each other: blessed

  1. 7-mile hike with M on trails we haven't walked in years--beautiful day to be outside (another storm coming soon, so "carpe deambulatio?" --I had to look up Latin)

  3. Enjoying a quiet afternoon with M and Mr. Purrsival the Cat: genealogy stuff, reading a good book, drinking hot coffee and tea, and writing some correspondence

1/14/24:

  1. Met a nice lady who can watch our kitties while we travel to see relatives--she's a kindred spirit, it's great to meet such folks. Helps that she's a fellow masker, careful of herself and others.

  2. Two-mile walk today in the after-storm sunshine with my buddy M., looking forward to a hike tomorrow in the Big Woods.

  3. Making homemade pizza for supper tonight.

1/9/24

  1. It's raining today. I got going on the yard work for the season between storms. The snowdrops will bloom first; then, around Valentine's Day, the hyacinths. Then daffodils, then tulips...

  2. Warmth, shelter

  3. Tomorrow I don't plan on going anywhere: studio all day. It must be so...deadlines abound. Thankful for the chance to do this work at all. Drawing a lot! Will post some soon.

Despite feeling quite tired when I headed to bed last night, I slept only in what felt like short bits with disquieting dreams. Woke up feeling just as tired. Fooey!

Working the best I can today...slowly but surely, there's progress.

  1. Listening to Scowl with Mr. M (check out that Santa Cruz band...I feel like how Kat Moss sings a lot of the time, but couldn't do what she does on stage...be warned, though, if you're allergic to the F-word, don't bother)

  2. Got stuff to re-home our little succulents. They're growing up, they need their own rooms.

  3. Coffee, new work gloves, looking forward to moving concrete blocks, dirt, sand etc. to fix up some stuff in our back yard.

  2. Did quite a bit of house-cleaning, and a course of resistance-band exercises to try to keep my aging self in shape. It's raining today so I'm not going out on a hike.

  1. Talked with two relatives who recently caught Covid--they're OK so far. (Our views on avoiding the virus differ--great folks, I wish they were more careful.)
