Naja, die afd zieht nicht nur Ausländerhasser an, sondern auch generell sozialkonservative Leute, und dort kann die bsw gut wildern. Auch wenn das hier eher nicht der Fall ist.

Proton Annual Survey: Gentle reminder to kindly ask for a Linux Client for Drive, now. (www.youtube.com)

The link right here goes to 40:02 of Proton’ boss on the TLE channel about Linux support, where a Drive Client is deemed so difficult to achieve that they don’t even have a roadmap for it. Nor is the word “Linux” featured anywhere on proton’s pages about Drive....

GregorGizeh,

I would be happy to, i also want to remind them to provide a themed android app icon for their mail. VPN has it, mail doesn’t, and it drives me crazy.

You might want to provide a link to the survey right here though, I rooted through the video description and comments but no survey in sight.

GregorGizeh,

Interesting, i didn’t get one myself. Perhaps because I am a somewhat new customer?

GregorGizeh, (edited )

Already did, and it works, thank you though :)

Naturally there is a breaking point where collective ownership becomes too cumbersome in relation to what is shared, for example imagine your lightbulbs go to your neighbor when you are asleep or at work. That’s just not worth the bother, same for basic tools like a spade or hammer. Collective ownership makes sense for everything an average person cannot purchase or fully utilize on their own, like machinery that sits in a barn 2/3 of the time.

GregorGizeh,

It doesnt necessarily mean direct democracy on every miniscule detail of societal organization, there would be - as is now - a bunch of well versed administrators, scientists, economists, ideologists and so forth working out the most practical and efficient way to do things.

I have reached the point where I actively avoid visible branding, prints or writing. Not only do they look like shit after two or three washing cycles tops, often like 90% of the price is for the logo on it.

Though i also will pay extra (within reason) when presented with the choice between a branded product and a more expensive one without any visible logos.

I value quality clothing that lasts more than a season or two, and I dont want to be a walking ad space for some corporation.

GregorGizeh,

My guess for the mental gymnastics behind this is that they mean they are treating everyone equally, within their gender roles.

GregorGizeh,

I dont have a horse in this race, am not american either for that matter, but I dont think being a student at some school counts as employment.

GregorGizeh,

If you dont like their intrusive data collection, there is a range of third party clients available which help to mitigate that.

GregorGizeh,

I use goofcord myself, you can find it on github

GregorGizeh, (edited )

… To be able to use the VPN I would guess.

GregorGizeh,

I’d say the most trusted developer for a security oriented service is the provider, so it makes sense that proton vpn offers a proton vpn client i should say.

For the OS, i dont know it or why it needs a special version of the Linux client, and i dont really care, but the users apparently do.

As for the “22 years of oops”, if that is so why does anyone use a vpn nowadays? Security is always relative.

She is an authority to them, they are obviously not adults, she invited them to her home, and there is little doubt she had sex with both because one evidently came at least on her bed and the other inside her.

This is sexual abuse. If the sexes were reversed the guy would be scheduled for a life sentence with high probablility of getting shanked every time he encounters another prisoner.

I wouldn’t mind that as an optional function, having a single global search field that brings up whatever you are looking for seems really convenient on paper.

Of course not the way msoft does it, where you never get the thing you want unless you are being really precise (like searching for appdata only yielding web results until you specifically type %APPDATA%).

GregorGizeh,

Definitely this. I have been eyeballing Linux for years, always intimidated by the CLI and the notion that everything you try to do on Linux requires user research and work first.

Now I finally made the switch a couple days ago, and while it took a bit of tinkering and googling here and there I am amazed how simple, even way simpler than on windows, the experience for a an average user is, particularly with the very beginner friendly distro I went with (bazzite/gnome).

It just works right out the box for 90% of whatever I want to do, configuring it is simply flipping some switches in the software and extension apps. Feels more like setting up a new smartphone than a PC. I didn’t even have to mess with the CLI all that much, perhaps half a dozen times so far, and each time i followed specific steps in a guide or tutorial, or tried out some basic things like file search.

GregorGizeh,

I do think people should get users to try less Windows like experiences on Linux. Because a Windows like UI will just make them miss Windows.

That is actually the exact reason I went with gnome instead of KDE myself; I find it much easier to learn a new system than to adjust habits that have formed for years. I will probably eventually switch to KDE when i feel fully comfortable, because it is supposedly slightly better in performance and far more customizable.

GregorGizeh,

I remember that, pretty sure it was in win7 or early win10, before they crammed cortana in there and you had to start jumping through hoops to disable all the garbage they added.

As for the search results, I’m not saying the user shouldn’t be able to distinguish them; in fact the way I imagine it is that the results are grouped by category and in a user determined order of priority.

For the loading times I have nothing, that isnt really avoidable with my idea.

Perhaps with some visual trickery that fades or slides the results in over a second or two, ending on the web results. It would give the web search part time to run behind the scenes, seemingly appearing as quickly as the others.

The stock market is one of the hallmarks, but the one thing capitalism can’t do without, is the capitalist class, because it wouldn’t be capitalism any more. The private people who own the things and earn the profits by sheer virtue of having a lot already.

GregorGizeh,

I think this is badly worded but supposedly means something like the implicit threat of violence by the people / the proletariat against a system that becomes undemocratic. Essentially the second amendment of the united states rephrased, only that their democracy corrupting agents have co opted that movement.

Now this statement holds a lot of truth and merit by itself, but is obviously also really problematic and prone to corruption and abuse, because who gets to say what is undemocratic?

GregorGizeh, (edited )

My only worry with this is that we start hunting them to eradicate or at least contain a threat, like we do to most wild animals who could potentially, perhaps, maybe, harm a human intruding on their habitat and territory. Like wolves in europe, we carefully reintroduce them after almost eradicating them entirely, they do what wolves do and prey on some livestock here and there, and people immediately ask for them to be culled.

GregorGizeh,

Microsoft isnt well known for their innovative products, they usually reiterate on the same concepts. Every time they try something different they fuck up big time, hence the old windows meme of every second release being bullshit like win ME or win8, and now win 11.

I think if they had tried a similar product without google to emulate it wouldn’t have been such a world changing tool that is essentially the operating system of the internet for most users.

GregorGizeh,

searx.be, it was the preset for searxng in my librewolf Installation. So far i have no complaints

GregorGizeh,

Great, now I am even more upset it was canceled
