Hazzia,

They didn’t negotiate with us hard enough!!!

Hazzia,

I ran into a pirate who said it recently as well. I was transporting a shipment off the coast of Somalia when my ship was come upon by a speedboat full of armed somali men. They boarded quickly and tied me and the rest of the crew to the railings. To the sound of a “thunk, think, thunk” up the plank, the men lined up on either side, guns at the ready. Over the deck comes this massive, 7 foot tall white man with a long, scratchy looking beard, wearing a tricorn cap, a long, raggedy coat, and a parrot upon his shoulder. Looking down, I was able to see the thunking was coming from the walk of his peg leg.

“Yarrrr, what be the situation me boys?” Said the large man. One of the armed men spoke to him in a language I didn’t understand, though that seemed to be no trouble for the bearded giant. “Aye then, let’s load’er up 'fer we’re sent to dance with Jack Ketch!”

They stole 5 crates of oranges and then left.

Hazzia,

Hey man they might actually break into the Swifty demographic with this one.

Hazzia,

I read an article recently that was kind of attacking YIMBYism with “when has deregulation ever helped anyone” which I would normally agree with, and if housing was completely deregulated (such as for safety and energy concerns) that would definitely be a problem, but they absolutely didn’t explore the idea they were presenting in any meaningful way other than saying that deregulation by itself hasn’t led to a significant uptick in development, or a significant drop in housing/rent prices in some areas that did it. Because it’s definitely not possible that interest rates or other factors are contributing, certainly not.

YSK : Dark patterns among large companies are becoming more mainstream (youtu.be)

While it is no secret that exploitative practices are interlaced with capitalistic tendencies, the practices are becoming intolerable. Signing up to pay usually takes only two clicks that are prominently visible whereas cancelation options are hidden away in deep settings requiring multiple clicks. Pricing often feel arbitrary...

Hazzia,

Man, even just 10 years ago the immediate assumption is that you got some horrible virus for your computer to behave like that.

Boiling frog analogy.

Hazzia,

Back on r*ddit I checked out the libertarian sub and could not fucking figure out what libertarianism even was because it seemed that every single political ideology was represented and somehow justified to be some form of libertarianism. I legit saw (many) people arguing that taxes and regulation are good, actually, which I agree with but also I thought that “taxes and regulation are bad” was supposed to be the core tennant of libertarianism??

The only consistency I saw on that sub was that people should be allowed to do whatever drugs and fuck whoever whenever. Which is obviously only consistent over there because any other libertarian I hear about these days seems to be trying to restrict people’s personal freedoms (and also deregulate and eliminate taxes).

At least it’s so screwed up with their ideals that there’s no way any significant amount of them could get behind a candidate.

Hazzia,

Maybe the current state of the Russian army is in part caused by them seeing how absolutely one-sided that fight was and just giving up.

Got tracked down for my school reunion

Today I was contacted by someone at work. She graduated school with me and our 20 year reunion was coming up. Why did she contact me at work? It was the only way they were able to track me down. I was included in promotional material by name. She told me I "was the hardest to track down"and I had to smile....

Hazzia,

I have one up one you: I’m 100% sure nobody will find me because I’m 100% sure nobody will look for me. So take that, I guess.

Hazzia,

Specifically in contrast to the R’s getting a Justice during an election year.

Hazzia,

Is it Java?

Wait a minute, that’s an actual thing in java!? What the fuck Java I already didn’t like you and now you start pulling this shit? What even is the point of creating standards if you design backdoors to them

Hazzia,

“The Game of Life” did not prepare me for any of this shit.

Where the hell did all the lucky spaces go

Hazzia,

I’m gonna come out and say that towards to beginning of this, while I still would have preferred staying OUT of this conflict, I could understand/respect Biden choosing to back one of our allies. But for fucks sake, every day we just hear more and more about how absolutely fucked up Nettypot (don’t know how to spell his name and do not care) is. He’s gennociding innocent civilians and parading himself arround shamelessly because he knows America’s backing him. He’s like a shit trustfund kid with parents who don’t care enough to ever let him face the consequences of his actions. And now Iran’s getting involved and we’re risking “The Middle East Mistake part infinity” because every single operation we do out there (from what I’m aware of) only ends poorly

Hazzia,

Giant caltrops for really big foot-soldiers, perhaps?

Hazzia,

BREAKING: There is an asshole somewhere being an asshole in public. More at 10.

Breakthrough promises secure and private quantum computing at home (www.physics.ox.ac.uk)

The full power of next-generation quantum computing could soon be harnessed by millions of individuals and companies thanks to a breakthrough by scientists at Oxford’s Department of Physics guaranteeing security and privacy. The advance promises to unlock the transformative potential of cloud-based quantum computing and is...

Hazzia,

30 years ago people were asking what use a redular citizen would have for more than a couple of megabytes of storage. So yeah I’m just going to assume AAA game powercreep.

Hazzia,

My initial assumption would have been one of those “we make literally everything and do it for super cheap” websites like Wish or Temu. It does seem like an odd direction for the chinese government to go, but as they are not russia I may give them the benefit of the doubt and assume there’s actually some strategy behind it, if they are involved.

Hazzia,

This is one particular instance where I’d be okay with a politician going back on his word/ folding from a threat. Gaza already has Biden in hot water, and getting our troops involved in a direct conflict with Iran, after FINALLY getting out of Afghanistan, is just gonna make things worse, dammit. Put more money into green energy so we can finally stop getting involved in the middle east, PLEASE.

Hazzia,

But the tv told me that in AMERICA, people only get rich by being SMART and HARDWORKING. Are you trying to tell me the tv lied to me??

Hazzia,

Republicans are terrible at being people.

Hazzia,

I just learned yesterday that Costco started selling gold boullion in August and keeps selling out. Somehow it all just feels like an absurdist comedy.

Greene Escalates Threat Against Johnson, Making the Case for His Ouster (www.nytimes.com)

"Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) “on Tuesday escalated her threat to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, distributing a scathing letter that made the case for his removal and took Republicans to task for tolerating his leadership,” the New York Times reports....

Hazzia,

Fucking do it, coward

I wanna see if the GOP is broken enough that some of the R’s split and vote for Jefferies this time lmao

Hazzia,

I’ve never been myself, but I heard that in some european country (Germany, I think) zipper merging is SUPER fluid because everybody’s on the same page. Which makes me think the issue is less about humans and more about americans, specifically

Hazzia,

(okay I know this is a joke thread and I shouldn’t take any of it seriously but the fact you didn’t pick up on “apostrophy” is bugging the hell out of me)
