“We’ve”? You may internalize whatever you’d like, but I don’t think judging sex scenes by necessary or unnecessary is even a realistic metric at all. Movies are an art form. That’s like saying, Renoir had to many extra people in his paintings, not all of them were necessary. I personally prefer more explicit sex scenes woven into movies about intimate relationships and I think watching something like a tiger disembowling someone is in my opinion less than necessary. Just show the tiger and then maybe a body bag or something. But that’s completely just a personal preference, no we shit.
I disagree that a lot of society has “internalized this”. Perhaps Lemmy and other social media bubbles may lead you to believe this, but the sample sizes are ridiculously skewed. It’s like saying a lot of people love Arch Linux. Well, yeah, on Lemmy they do! But that’s not the real world. I just think we statements broadcast to a bunch of strangers on the internet are a bad idea in general.
Why a bad idea? Why an odd idea? It’s a powerful computer with a decent size monitor in a place where sometimes people have to sit and wait. What am I missing because seems like a logical / good idea to me?

The amount and types of data and the ease and lack of any restrictions on the data corporations collect. To make a statement like this in the wake of project Nimbus is an indicator of naivety permissible to you by a fortunate and comfortable life. Situations within this world can turn on a dime ; I emplore you to think of the worst case scenarios with corporate data sharing if not for the future well being of yourself, than at least to minimize the support of these practices which are currently and will continue to negatively affect others. What was once considered fringe paranoia with use of these “free” services is now clear and present danger.
Agree better laws are needed for this, but ultimately there is plenty of room for free content with ads - you aren’t remembering that there was good information, entertainment, and even services before the ad drivem corporate internet took over. Some things of value maybe shouldnt be free / could be better if they weren’t. I’m not sure where the happy medium lies, but it has gone far too far in one direction and complacency feeds the fire.
Will be interesting to see if they stoop so low as to allow this. Probably wouldn’t be a super wise move as most deleted posts are likely material that would not be great to train on anyway. My first thought when I read this was, “well, not on MY posts” I’m clean off of reddit.
