ImplyingImplications,

Branding is product specific. I wouldn’t be surprised if nobody can put a pink square and red circle on their controller due to trademark, but that doesn’t mean Sony owns red circles and pink squares. It means they have reserved the right to exclusively have those buttons on their controllers as it’s part of their branding. If other people put those buttons on their controllers it could be mistaken for a Sony controller. If you want to put a pink square and red circle on another product Sony doesn’t sell then you’re probably fine.

ImplyingImplications,

You gotta get those trust issues started early!

ImplyingImplications,

Have you seen what happens to American protesters? They get pepper sprayed, shot with bean bags, and have the shit kicked out of them by warrior police and then the president holds a press conference where he says “order must prevail”.

ImplyingImplications,

Remember, voting doesn’t work but negative Steam reviews do!

How come liberals dont hate conservatives the way conservatives hate liberals

I constantly see angry mobs of people decrying “woke”, “critical race theory”, ““grooming””, and whatever other nonsense they made up this week. They march around with guns, constantly appending lib as a prefix to any word they can use to denigrate. They actively plot violence and spew hatred in the open....

ImplyingImplications,

It’s really difficult to want everyone to be able to access food, shelter, education, and healthcare and also be hateful.

ImplyingImplications,

For those who don’t want to click a reddit link:

Fun fact: I don’t know if someone realised about this before, but the promotional render of the WOL in Endwalker shares the exactly same pose as the first promotional render of the WOL released in 2010.

ImplyingImplications,

Ah, that explains why I lost connection several times this morning!

ImplyingImplications,

There’s a few features I haven’t seen many apps include for whatever reason. The instance’s modlog and the list of instances an instance is federated/defederated with are neat features Lemmy has that I can’t find on most apps.

ImplyingImplications,

Yes, if they can pay the $10,000 fine.

The judge said everyone gets warnings and fines before jail time. If he could, he’d issue a large fine, but he can’t because state law caps the fine at $1,000 per violation. The judge acknowledged that a $10,000 fine for a multi-millionaire isn’t even a punishment, but immediately jailing someone because they can easily afford the fine seemed wrong. Trump violated the gag order 10 times before being officially told to stop, so the judge is lumping them all into a “first” violation. He said the “second” violation absolutely will be punished with jail time. We’ll see.

ImplyingImplications,

I don’t even work for Sony and “you need to create a third party account to play our game” isn’t something I expected to generate 300k negative reviews in 3 days. There are a lot of games that come with third party accounts and launchers. With all the shit companies like EA, Epic, and Ubisoft force onto their players, I’m genuinely surprised this caused any pushback.

ImplyingImplications,

Ah yes, I’ve read 4 and 4A. And who could forget 7? Such great articles!

ImplyingImplications,

Deportion is not abuse

The recipients of DACA are young people who have grown up as Americans, identify themselves as Americans, and many speak only English and have no memory of or connection with the country where they were born.

You would send someone to a country they have no memory of, no connection to, and cannot speak the language and not call it abuse? They’re not being sent home. They’re effectively being sent to a foreign country.

ImplyingImplications,

I really like your videos! Welcome to the fediverse!

ImplyingImplications,

“The Golden Handshake” mission in Hitman 2 allows you to take a job interview to access a corporate headquarters. If you answer their questions like a murderous psychopath you’ll be hired for the position of investment banker.

ImplyingImplications, (edited )

Right? This game requires users install a kernel-level anti-cheat in order to run. That’s a huge privacy and security risk just to play a non-competitive video game. Nobody seemed to care about that, but signing up for PlayStation Network? That’s where gamers draw the line!

I mean, I’m glad they’re finally pushing back against terrible corporate decisions but what set them off is puzzling.

[Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don’t come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don’t really get upset by...

ImplyingImplications,

I’ve been a vegetarian for 15 years. People IRL often do get offended if you tell them you don’t eat meat. I try my best to avoid saying it because it often leads to being lectured about proteins. Everyone suddenly becomes a nutritionist when you explain why you don’t eat meat.

ImplyingImplications,

See also: “get good grades in university and you’ll be flooded with job offers!”

ImplyingImplications,

But this isn’t stop and frisk. You’ve already been stopped. The policy is that everyone who gets stopped gets a breathalyzer. There’s literally no way this can be used to hassle you any further than you’ve already been hassled. You’ve already been pulled over. If cops want to hassle you for donut powder they already can without the breathalyzer bit. This doesn’t change when cops can pull you over.

ImplyingImplications,

Youre right! That’s why if someone blows high on a roadside test they will be taken to the station and tested again multiple times over a longer period of time using a more sensitive device. Roadside tests aren’t admissible in court as evidence and are only used as probable cause to force someone to take the real test at the station. Nobody is going to jail because they used mouthwash before driving.

ImplyingImplications,

Only federal crimes and it depends on the state. Most states restore voting rights after release from prison, some only restore after probation/parole is completed. A handful never restore voting rights unless the state governer allows it.
