Michal,

How is this still legal to have blindspots on a truck?

Michal,

Nobody is fine with Crimea - except Russia, but they want more. Crimea was the price to pay for peace, but peace was broken by Russia, so Russia does not get to keep it.

When the fuck did a mobile hotspot become something you have to pay extra for?

It’s my goddamn motherfucking mobile data and MY PHONE. I should be able to use it however I want. My wifi went down because the greedy, cunt-faced shitbags at Comcast stole taxpayer subsidies to enrich themselves instead of actually providing the service we’re paying for. I tried to switch to a mobile hotspot and my phone...

Michal,

Did you get a “subsidized” phone?

Michal,

But then you have to press shift if you want to use the file in Linux terminal…

Intentionally chose an open ecosystem for the smart relays in my house, now they crippled the app adding a $4 subscription (feddit.it)

If you don’t pay a subscription you can’t see the history of use, it’s limited to the latest 5 events. When I bought the ten devices (=I paid 150 euro for the hardware), it was 100 events

Michal,

The ecosystem is open. The app isn’t.

If the ecosystem is truly open, anyone can make an app for it and charge for it if they want.

Michal,

Initially i bought nexus/pixel phones for clean android experience and no bloat.

Staying with pixel mainly for camera quality and free storage on Google Photos.

Its not ideal, but I’m used to it. They never try to do something too gimmicky and it feels like phone made by Google will work best with the os made by google so my experience will be most consistent, but i haven’t tried other phones in a while.

Michal,

Interrupting motorsports may give then more sympathy.

Michal,

Cycling is environmentally friendly, but let’s not equate world championship to cycling as transport. The event itself must have a lot carbon footprint. Still, weird choice of event to protest, but I can see them doing what they can to get the publicity they need.

Michal,

Except when they’re used in court as evidence, then they’re called “xzibits”

What are the benefits to the US Electoral College system?

So I’m a New Zealander and I have a pretty good idea on how the electoral college system works but it honestly sounds like something that can be easily corrupted and it feels like it renders the popular vote absolutely useless unless I’m totally missing something obvious?...

Michal,

That doesn’t sound like a benefit at all…

Michal,

I hate it when they do it.

I was on a development end of this and managers always pushed for the ios and android apps to be identical. It always ended up being the ios being the main and android being the afterthought copy.

Whenever i see an android app trying to look like ios, it signals that the quality is lacking.

Michal,

Use a different app, nobody’s forcing you to use Sync.

Michal,

You’re free to use any app you want. Some people prefer free open-source apps, some people want to pay for a quality app. It’s good to have a choice unlike with Reddit. I don’t understand people complaining about having additional choice because they don’t like it.

Michal,

People who wear clothes automatically lose this argument.

Lock you house? Close your window blinds? Lock the door when you go to the bathroom?

Yep, you’ve things to hide.

Michal,

Garden hose. It has a satisfying click, and it stops water flow while disconnected 🤯

Michal,

Cycling is definitely more freedom than car. Don’t need a license, fuel, insurance, etc. And you’re not affected by traffic.

Road trips are fun, yes, but have nothing ro do with city congestion.

Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...

Michal,

No. Once my app stopped working, I quit cold turkey. I deleted all content from my reddit account and switched to Lemmy.

It's so much easier to comment on Lemmy because it isn't a toxic cesspool waiting to tear you apart

It feels like people are a lot nicer here than on Twitter and Reddit, and even when people disagree, it’s generally civil and not an all-out flame war. Also, there’s no algorithm promoting outrage all the time....

Michal,

Reddit used to be like that too, but those people gravitate to the community eventually. I think best we can do is recognize the behaviour early and down vote it on sight.

Michal,

Same, already paid for year’s subscription too. I used Sync for reddit and trust the developer to make a quality app.

Michal,

Instead of “because lemmy”, I’d say reddit now charges money for the content, but they did not pay the creator.
