TIL: it took the @w3c CSS working group and web browser vendors seven years to not fix and implement correct (according to the standard) letter-spacing behavior for the last letter inside an element. Bravo. 👏

@Lippe Doch hat geklappt. Noch kein Test unter Extrembedingungen, aber sieht gut aus soweit. Ich hätte gerne mal ’ne Statistik wie viel Rollkoffer auf 4-Rollen-fähigem Untergrund prozentual bewegt werden.

@gurkendoktor wenn man sie nur innerhalb von Airports oder Bahnhöfen benutzt funktioniert das vielleicht, aber das Konzept kommt schon bei ner holprigen Straße ins schleudern und spätestens wenn man bergauf muss geht nichts mehr. Oder verstehe ich ggf. nicht wie man sie richtig rollt? 🤔

@gurkendoktor in mir zieht sich immer alles zusammen wenn ich sehe wie 4-Rollen-Koffer auf zwei rollen gezogen werden und die Aufhängung der Rollen auf dem Boden entlang kratzt…

Dear frontend, usability, accessibility friends and experts:

Please provide undeniable facts, why using placeholders as labels for form fields are a terrible idea (even when <label> is used and styled to resemble a placeholder).

For some reasons I still need to argue such things nowadays...🫣

Alternatively tell my why this is fine. I'm happy to learn.

@helhum Not in all cases but mostly unusable with screen readers.

Loads of UX problems for example after you typed something you cannot see the placeholder anymore which makes it hard to know what to input in the specific field.

Ok, I can’t take it anymore.

When trying to pay, Amazon is pestering me by presenting me 7 different places where it is hard not to click on the wrong button because they hate me for not being a prime member. They even tell me that prime delivery takes one day and normal delivery takes 4 (which is a lie).

This can’t be legal. Really. It can’t.

Dauerkaten für den Karlsruher Zoo sind jetzt wieder digital erhältlich. Print@Home. Natürlich als PDF personalisiert mit Foto. Aber eben auch einem QR-Code.

Böse Hacker könnten jetzt darüber nachdenken, ob man den Code auch auf sein Phone oder in Apple Wallet bekommt um bloß nichts drucken zu müssen, hab’ ich gehört…

@cy gute Frage, soweit ich weiß, sind Wallet und App nicht miteinander verknüpft. Man kann zum Beispiel auch Wallet Einträge aus E-Mails hinzufügen.

I am confident the author had no idea how much this graphic torpedoed my trust in them. I am realizing that often people who use AI art don't understand how art works
