I like how colloquial this got over the course of reading.

Oh no, emotions! I sure hope there aren’t some damning statistics about how many women die for saying no.

Cool, here’s a video of a known static electricity ignition.

They do engineer the pumps to ground the static charge. That’s what can cause the arc.

You discharge yourself the first time you touch the pump before you fill up.

Getting back into the car defeats the purpose by then grounding you in the presence of fuel vapors, rather than before.

Yes, which is why the recommendation is to keep your hand on the handle while pumping or touch a metal part of your car prior to returning to the pump, and don’t get back into a car.

I have a real life degree in automotive technology and engineering, and you saw a Mythbusters episode.

We can keep doing this forever if you like, but you’re still very poorly informed on how safety is engineered into your vehicle fuel system and the mechanisms that support it.

Here is some reading to help you, API recommended fuel procedures (if you’re not familiar with the API just read any gas pump or bottle of oil until you are): www.api.org/…/staying-safe-pump

Most important, motorists should not get back into their vehicles during refueling. It may be a temptation to get back in the car for any number of reasons. But the average fill-up takes only two minutes, and staying outside the vehicle will greatly minimize the likelihood of any build-up of static electricity that could be discharged at the nozzle.

Citing your dad’s job is a wild way to claim expertise.

Giant coyote killed in southern Michigan turns out to be a gray wolf — despite the species vanishing from region 100 years ago (www.livescience.com)

Genetic tests have revealed that an animal killed in a legal coyote hunt in Michigan’s Calhoun County was actually a gray wolf, state officials say. But experts don’t know how the animal got there in the first place....

Overpopulation in wild animals leads to the spread of disease to each other and also to people (75% of re-emergent human viruses over the last century have come from wild animal populations).

An overpopulation of predators also wipes out prey species and eventually causes a mass die-off of the predators themselves through starvation and competition.

Lastly, humans have wiped out most of the species that keep wild populations in check, like wolves. We created this issue, and sometimes we have to take on icky but necessary responsibilities for our actions as a species.

There is much more to this than what you can apparently see.

I open the toilet seat to have a pee, a three foot flag unfurls from the ceiling, ITS HONDAFEST!

A small corporate social media account emerges from the bowl, screaming relatable phrases it copied from r/memes. ITS GIVING SAVINGS, FAM NO CAP.

My wife enters asking if I’m ok. I reach out for her, too late, she has become a smiling vacant eyed Summer’s Eve ad. Not so fresh, I weep.

He might’ve been able to get away with the behavior 10 years ago when Tesla ruled the EV market. Now they have growing competition with better build quality and (subjectively) better styling.

Yeah I think the front end is a little goofy, a bit too 90s Macintosh. The back end is a work of boxy art. It’s giving MkII GTi and every EV company should be bringing back 70s, 80s, and 90s glory like this.

You have my sympathy, but it sounds like you had a super fucked up childhood and you’re now externalizing that trauma onto an unrelated group of people.

Your uncle was a sexual predator, not a trans woman. Trans people are not usually gender fluid so they don’t switch back and forth like your uncle and they certainly don’t pretend to be a real relative to bully that person’s children!?

Honestly it sounds like your uncle had serious issue with your mother, probably stemming from his own childhood abuse. Abusers are often abused. You don’t mention them, but I’d bet your mothers parents were not great either.

And they just got done suing Xbox so Microsoft couldn’t own the Modern Warfare IP.

Caveats like “they own it, they don’t pay so others can’t own it” are meaningless at ground level.

Tesla is not worth 10 times more than Ford, but the stock market says they are.

In 2022 Tesla took in $81B in revenue, Ford took in more than twice that at $168B.

Rivian is also seeing between 100 and 200% growth year over year for the last 4 years, and is now pulling in over $5 billion in revenue per year.

BYD moved 530k units in Q1, and unless Tesla sets a personal best (not likely) they are now the Number 2 electric vehicle maker.

The 2024 numbers for Tesla are going to suck. Musk has alienated his target demos. They’ve already discounted their range, and have just now started increasing the price.

Tesla never paid for marketing because they had a celebrity CEO. What becomes of a word-of-mouth company when the word-of-mouth becomes negative and the cool factor evaporates?

24 hours later Edit: oof, almost 100k less than expected.

These things show up in coral chunks people buy for aquariums.

I remember a reddit post where a guys fish kept disappearing, until he discovered a giant worm in one of the corals.

No, to have in this instance means for the cake to exist in your possession.

Once you eat it, you don’t have it anymore. You can’t share a cake you ate, or put it back in the fridge, or add more sprinkles, it’s ceased to be a cake.

So have your cake and eat it too is impossible. The saying means something is an impossible desire.
