OfficerBribe,

Foobar2000 has all of these features. You might need some tweaking, but foobar can do practically everything as far as music library management goes. My default sorting is album artist, album year, disc, track number.

As for song sort, if you meant sort by track number, it would be hard to find a player that does not support that. If VLC really does not support that, that is somewhat understandable, it is not meant as a serious music player after all.

OfficerBribe,

You are correct on artist, here’s a link to source, created on 2009-07-27. Have never seen this guy before, but after scrolling through some comics I think I am an instant fan.

OfficerBribe,

Probably, but this specific comic is from 2009 so not exactly trying to break new ground.

OfficerBribe,

All that depends on developer. Majority of my used Windows software is portable stored in folder that’s synced with Dropbox. All settings are then usually stored in the same folder so I can easily copy SW over to another machine without loosing any configuration / history.

Some of those programs still do not store settings in same folder, you can often simply export settings from GUI.

OfficerBribe,

Pretty sure I have seen a prompt suggesting switching to MS account before and MS already hides local account creation during setup.

It’s not like local accounts will disappear unless there will be an actual redesign of whole OS which is very unlikely since then you loose all the backwards compatibility.

OfficerBribe,

At least on Pro edition, just enter fake address like a@a.com and you will be provided with an option to create local account

OfficerBribe,

Fired and a possible jail time for an amusing stunt?

The man attached the painting to the exhibition wall with two screws, leaving behind drill holes.

The total damage is estimated at around €100 ($107).

He is under investigation for property damage—and if he is convicted, he could face up to two years in prison, per CNN.

OfficerBribe,

2 years is insane for what seems like a harmless prank though. It′s maybe an issue with how law is defined, similar to stories when you become a sex offender by doing public urination. Perhaps those 2 drill holes are similar to ″unrepairable damage to historic object″.

OfficerBribe,

Looks more like a bug than performance problem. Anyways start menu search has felt worse ever since Windows 8. For the most part it works, but occasionally you get random issues like these.

Things like PowerToys Run offer a much better search experience.

OfficerBribe,

They are bugs I guess, but I think for most performance problem associates with delay / laggines. In this example search seemed broken.

OfficerBribe,

Looks good although not sure it will replace Multiling O Keyboard for me. That keyboard still seems to have unparalleled layout customization options.

OfficerBribe,

That’s with Keys Cafe, right? Have seen that module, but have never looked into it much. Will check it out later.

OfficerBribe, (edited )

Tried it out and it has decent customization although Multiling O still provides more options. That said I think I will give it a shot and maybe finally move to Samsung keyboard since its dictionary and swipe are much better, plus it has some cool features like underlined spelling mistakes, emoji search and translate straight from keyboard.

Edit: Think I have found a deal breaker. My language has diacritics so I need a modifier key to quickly type without holding a key and choosing letter from pop up. There is an option using ALT as modifier, but when it is enabled, keyboard layout is not the standard one where you get like a V shape, second row keys are right under first row and it throws off my typing.

OfficerBribe,

Brilliant concept. Will check it out later, hope it’s good.

In 2021, a weekly podcast began, hosted by Katie Puckrik and Tom Fordyce, entitled We Didn’t Start the Fire. Each week they examine a subject mentioned in the Billy Joel song, in lyric order, and discuss its importance and cultural significance with an expert guest.

OfficerBribe,

Seems weird to be honest. I would agree on removing personal Teams from new Windows installations, but if you are locked in Microsoft 365 environment it is very unlikely you will not use Teams due to how well it integrates with whole ecosystem.

It’s almost as asking to unbundle Outlook because Thunderbird exists.

OfficerBribe,

Would be nice for new OS install, including default browser choice and maybe even cloud storage.

OfficerBribe,

Depends who you ask. There isn’t a single HP movie I like more than a book and the only decent movie adaptions in my eyes were first 2.

OfficerBribe,

R and d would disaapear and no new drugs would be made if it wasn’t for patents and profits.

True and I think no one expects any good to cost the same as manufacturing it, but the difference here is 200 times. That is bonkers.

OfficerBribe,

No point in keeping 2 similar communities, especially if they are on same instance.

Hope we will get post tags one day, that would help with filtering if someone really wants this

world doesn’t accept video links or text pieces

OfficerBribe,

Have you seen government owned IT systems? No thanks.

OfficerBribe,

Only for a test, I do not see myself switching to passkeys any time soon, using KeePass is fine in my use case. If there would be some site for which I would need to authenticate every day I would probably create a passkey on device itself (Windows Hello or Google Password manager) since authentication speed increase is undeniable.

Only authentication method changes, there should be no difference after you sign-in, how long sign-in is kept still depends on site owner.

There are various sites to test authentication experience, here’s one where you can test it with dummy account and no registration webauthn.io. It is pretty cool, but you need to create a passkey for every site on all devices to fully utilize their potential.

His name is Charles N. Fitzgerald. Here’s additional info about him and the photograph.

Fitzgerald also did things like stand on the upper wing of a biplane as it did a loop-de-loop. He had 18 occupations in 26 years, most of which were dangerous. These included high diver, Texas Ranger, motorcycle racer, and vaudeville strongman.

Here’s another article and higher resolution image of that newspaper article.

OfficerBribe,

There was a change for microG Services.

VancedMicroG is now replaced by GmsCore.
