OfficerBribe,

Staging was one of the worst if not the worst, but vocally he was one of the best. Guess that still matters for some.

OfficerBribe,

Interesting observation, but maybe it is just a coincidence since I am not aware these numbers appearing anywhere? Found this reddit thread that talks about same thing.

Here’s an interview with controller′s designer that explains the meaning behind symbols. I think number theory is just a coincidence since I think it would be mentioned in this interview as well.

Other game companies at the time assigned alphabet letters or colors to the buttons. We wanted something simple to remember, which is why we went with icons or symbols, and I came up with the triangle-circle-X-square combination immediately afterward. I gave each symbol a meaning and a color. The triangle refers to viewpoint; I had it represent one’s head or direction and made it green. Square refers to a piece of paper; I had it represent menus or documents and made it pink. The circle and X represent ‘yes’ or ‘no’ decision-making and I made them red and blue respectively. People thought those colors were mixed up, and I had to reinforce to management that that’s what I wanted.

OfficerBribe,

Apparently same was true for lizards, beavers and barnacle geese due to same reasoning.

OfficerBribe,

Have run their provided script on one device and it worked like a charm. Think it was this one.

I almost dumped Firefox on Android for Chromium based one due to this reason before realising the culprit, many sites were super sluggish and FF often lost cache when I changed between apps.

I am now just using the built in setting, many sites have native dark mode and the ones that don’t - I realised it does not bother me too much.

OfficerBribe,

Yet again it’s a feature that can be disabled, not to mention your hardware probably will not even support it. Obviously something like AI assistant will monitor everything you do same as voice assistants like Google and Alexa monitors audio 24/7 if you want to wake it up with voice commands. Article mentions a macOS software doing exact same thing called Rewind.

Unless all of important recorded data will not be saved locally, this is yet another nothingburger instead of ″Look at Microsoft killing itself, everyone will move to Linux next year″ nonesense.

Would I personally use this feature? Probably not, I would disable it and move on mainly because I have no need for this. Will there be people who will use this? Absolutely.

OfficerBribe,

You always could have disabled Cortana (no longer a thing btw) and you can disable Copilot if that’s what you thought about. Edge is another story, it does provide other functionality (WebView2) and is not just a Web browser so there is no official way to disable it. There will be something close to disabling it, but I doubt it will be truly removed from OS, just hidden from sight. Use another browser and forget it is there, I see it only if I explicitly search for it.

If you want to truly make your OS yours and fully remove most of the stuff you do not want, Windows is not and never will be for that, ″King of customization″ title belongs to Linux.

All we have here is people losing their minds over a new feature that can be disabled.

OfficerBribe,

Why not good old Mint?

Looks interesting. I would have hoped it is a collection of hilarious cartoons where these characters get killed in various ways and blue moose′s name is Lumpy. Since it’s probably some dumb kids show instead, I will not bother looking it up.

I vividly remember this episode, a bit surprised all their stuff is in YouTube. Fond memories of this one as well.

OfficerBribe,

Reaction from a lot of people seems as if Nova now has some kind of keylogger and some random dude from Nigeria will try to access your bank account.

OfficerBribe,

Foobar2000 has all of these features. You might need some tweaking, but foobar can do practically everything as far as music library management goes. My default sorting is album artist, album year, disc, track number.

As for song sort, if you meant sort by track number, it would be hard to find a player that does not support that. If VLC really does not support that, that is somewhat understandable, it is not meant as a serious music player after all.

OfficerBribe,

At least now it is pretty simple. Not sure about Spotify, but you can download exact audio files Deezer has. That’s my favorite method unless Deezer has a bad remasters of older albums, then I fall back to Soulseek to do some hunting of better version.

OfficerBribe,

Obviously it’s not more simple and never will be, but at this point pirating music is as simple as it was using ITunes

OfficerBribe,

Nobody, everyone is streaming since it is more convenient. All I was saying is that getting local music is also more convenient now.

OfficerBribe,

You are correct on artist, here’s a link to source, created on 2009-07-27. Have never seen this guy before, but after scrolling through some comics I think I am an instant fan.

OfficerBribe,

Probably, but this specific comic is from 2009 so not exactly trying to break new ground.

OfficerBribe,

All that depends on developer. Majority of my used Windows software is portable stored in folder that’s synced with Dropbox. All settings are then usually stored in the same folder so I can easily copy SW over to another machine without loosing any configuration / history.

Some of those programs still do not store settings in same folder, you can often simply export settings from GUI.

OfficerBribe,

Pretty sure I have seen a prompt suggesting switching to MS account before and MS already hides local account creation during setup.

It’s not like local accounts will disappear unless there will be an actual redesign of whole OS which is very unlikely since then you loose all the backwards compatibility.

OfficerBribe,

At least on Pro edition, just enter fake address like a@a.com and you will be provided with an option to create local account

OfficerBribe,

Fired and a possible jail time for an amusing stunt?

The man attached the painting to the exhibition wall with two screws, leaving behind drill holes.

The total damage is estimated at around €100 ($107).

He is under investigation for property damage—and if he is convicted, he could face up to two years in prison, per CNN.

OfficerBribe,

2 years is insane for what seems like a harmless prank though. It′s maybe an issue with how law is defined, similar to stories when you become a sex offender by doing public urination. Perhaps those 2 drill holes are similar to ″unrepairable damage to historic object″.

OfficerBribe,

Looks more like a bug than performance problem. Anyways start menu search has felt worse ever since Windows 8. For the most part it works, but occasionally you get random issues like these.

Things like PowerToys Run offer a much better search experience.

OfficerBribe,

They are bugs I guess, but I think for most performance problem associates with delay / laggines. In this example search seemed broken.
