Honestly I don’t think that’s the biggest factor. I think a lot more people would be willing to go through the process of having kids, if they felt financially stable enough to properly care for them afterwards.
Maybe I’m just cynical. I still vote every chance I get, even for local stuff. I’m a big supporter of approval voting, but I’m not hopeful that it’ll become the norm in the US.
Well yeah, plenty has changed. I’m talking about fixing our voting system. That would give lasting change, where we don’t have to worry so much about losing all that progress that people before us fought so hard for.
The argument I’ve heard is that new species will evolve to fill new niches and one day earth will host the same biodiversity again.
I can’t say I find that one anymore convincing. I’m with you on this, it’s pretty gross how blasé some people are about dragging countless other species into extinction along with us.
