After several crazy weeks, I’m going to attempt to enjoy a day off. Starting with a walk and coffee, noon electrolysis, and then will be taking my wife to see Barbie.

Out for a walk today this afternoon, so far dodging rain, after a exhausting but fun weekend and Monday at work.

While walking, I’ve been reflecting on how yesterday was just a complete non-event of taking my daughter to a amusement / water park. Nobody batted an obvious transphobic eye at me. I was just another mom with her daughter, who dragged me around on the most fear inducing rides (the kid has no fear, good for her)🤣

Also reflecting at how far things have come over the past 2 years. I can safely say I am much further than I ever dreamed possible.

Things are better. Sorry about last night.

Quiet today cause my wife and I took our daughter to an amusement park. It was lots of fun, she is JUST tall enough for 90% of everything with a parent accompanying her, so full chaos.

Not to mention water park and new bathing suit (no pictures for reasons).

I went to see Barbie yesterday.

It was amazing.

It was uplifting.

It made me cry.

Barbie has special meaning to me as a trans woman.

When I was about 3-4, when I started to cross the social gender borders, an adult authority figure yelled at me “earrings are for girls, you are a boy”. That sentence was burned into my brain, and would ring in my skull whenever I came across something feminine, or whenever I wanted to express my femininity.

I buried a lot of myself after that in an attempt to “fix” what was broken in me. Cue depression and dark thoughts throughout my life, but that is not the point of this thread.

There was a time when my family spent significant time in South America when I was 6-8 for an adoption. Toys were limited, however,there were Barbie’s there. They were for my sister, but I remember clearly putting the voice aside, and playing with them, and enjoying it. The voice would win again eventually, espicially after returning to the states, but subconsciously I knew being in a “safer” place where no one would know who I was allowed me to explore that side of myself, however even then I had to be guarded.

Playing with those Barbie’s in a tiny hotel room is one of the few joyful memories of my childhood.

A big theme of the movie to me is being yourself, not what society says you should be. That is why it hit me so hard, espicially being transgender, and having to forced myself to act a role cause it is what “patriarchy” said I should be for most of my life despite the toxicity of it and how it went against my nature.

And now, to have a movie about Barbie, with an openly trans woman playing a Barbie, who is treated as a girl and not as a punchline, it means a lot to me.

I also learned some things about myself from watching the movie that I am still unpacking.

Barbie is the most trans movie I've seen since Matrix 4. Anyone who has ever had a gender crisis will feel deeply seen by the ending. Particularly trans women.

I absolutely cannot conceive of how this movie was permitted to be made.

180/10 movie.

Aiming for a 3 mile walk today. Though about jogging, but have not gotten a new sports bra yet, and the old ones…. Won’t work for….. reasons.

It is a twisted sense of amusement when I explain to CIS people why I plan extra time to go through airport security.

That said, so far I’ve been lucky and only had some extra groping during my first flight after transition 🤢. Last few flights I breezed through. But with everything going on, I plan for the worst and hope for the best.

That means getting there early, having extra documentation even a domestic trip, and everything as close to perfect as possible for security checkpoints.

And now I recall, it was last august I went for my first flight. All legal documentation was up to date, and I dressed in a dress. Security where we live patted down my inner thighs without taking me to a room.

Flight back that same day another airport patted down my chest.

Since then I’ve been on other flights without issues. Still, like you said, one “fun” time.

Day 4 after Breast Augmentation

Recovery still going well. More active and tackling a few chores, but still taking it easy. Starting to try to taper off on some of the pain meds slowly.

My wife pulled out this dress I bought and never wore, so we did a quick fashion show.

I feel this summer is going to be a lot different from prior summers 🤔😉

This time in 4 days I hope to be home recovering from getting some upgrades installed.

To help prepare, I had things done to my hair (more purple) and face (electrolysis) today, along with my final HRT injection prior to surgery 😊

Surgery being so close is hitting me finally.

Can’t wait!!

Took my daughter to a birthday party, mostly classmates in her kindergarten class.

At one point a boy in her class asked me:
“Is (insert daughter name) dad dead? Cause she has two mommies?”

Cue mental 🤦‍♀️ and panic

Daughter: “My daddy realized she is a mommy and now takes medicine to turn her into a mommy.”

Boy: “Ok.”

End of that conversation.

Nice save daughter 🥰

Also that boy was in my daughter pre-K class when I came out 🤷‍♀️
