It was obviously when Homestar Runner was at his peak (the character himself, the webseries named after him, and the website it’s hosted in all at the same time). This guy literally changed the accents of some people.

It’s so good that it counts as an upgrade.

At first I didn’t like the fact that my Lemmy client didn’t support notifications, but it turned out to be the greatest thing about it. It basically helped me cut down on social media time.

Map showing the path of totality of the solar eclipse in Canada on April 8, 2024 (www.asc-csa.gc.ca)

On April 8, 2024, a spectacular and rare celestial event is set to unfold over Canada, the United States and Mexico – a total solar eclipse. As the Moon aligns perfectly between Earth and the Sun, temporary darkness will sweep across parts of the country, captivating countless spectators.

Dammit, I need a visa just to get there.

I know a musician born on 29 February (you might know her for her contributions to the soundtracks of Celeste and Minecraft to name two), and as far as I know, she celebrates it on 1 March… in the case of a non-leap year.

Just browse it logged off on the old site on a desktop. Or better yet, stop visiting that website entirely.

Galaxy A32. It no longer receives software updates, but still gets security updates. It works fine for me.

Ubuntu is basically the only Linux distro I’ve seen offered on most computers from most if the big manufacturers.

Want something else? Install it yourself, or get a Slimbook or something similar to that.

The new Burning Man.

Hey Google, remember the very first “doodle” you had on your homepage that had the Burning Man? Please bring it back.

I was literally about to mention him.

I wonder why nobody managed to broadcast his match against… I think it was Alex Clark (maybe I’m wrong). It would’ve been amazing to see what it was like especially for people who can’t afford or don’t wanna attend, such as myself. In fact, because of this, I don’t even know who won.

I see it pretty much all the time. You probably live somewhere where people are more likely to do stuff other than chewing gum, or, in the worst case scenario, somewhere where it’s literally illegal (ie Singapore).

On my client (Jerboa), all of these worked except for ^Superscript^Normal~Subscript~, honestly I don’t know why it doesn’t support this very specific formatting thing.

Thanks to colonialism, I can speak three languages. The problem is that I suck at all of them.

Muricans might only speak one language, but they’re actually really good at it.

Here in Morocco, you’re not even supposed to hate the king, let alone try to kill him.

We’re already suffering from devastating storms and droughts. At least the country where I’m from.

Texas: the new Yorkshire

Resol,
@Resol@lemmy.world avatar

It would’ve made sense if Yorkshire was a city, which, it isn’t.

No, what I was actually meaning was that Yorkshire was one of the historical counties of England. However, when you look at the administrative/postal counties, there’s actually 4 of them all called Yorkshire, one of them has an even longer name: “the East Riding of Yorkshire”.

So basically, if Texas want to split itself up, it should, just for shits and giggles, adopt the Yorkshire strategy, hence, the new Yorkshire.

Try counting the amount of times I’ve said “Yorkshire” in this reply.

I think Tamago2474 made a video entirely about the evolution of CAPTCHAs. Yes, it even answers your question.

It’s this one in particular.

Some protests in the Arab Spring even caused civil wars, at least one of which is still ongoing to this day.

Just put Windows XP on it and try installing some old games from that era (or even from the 9x era).

Still like Windows 7? Keep it permanently offline and maybe use it as some kind of software time capsule. Old versions of stuff like Microsoft Office, iTunes or probably even Adobe Creative Suite are still pretty usable.

Hate Windows? Get a lightweight Linux distribution and use it as what it was intended to be use as: a f***ing netbook. Lubuntu most likely runs fine on 1GB of RAM.

Don’t feel like doing any of this? Just sell it, and use that money to buy a potentially better laptop.
