I lived in Germany for 6 years (during my childhood), and I’m not sure that I ever realized until now that Morgen means both morning and tomorrow. It just occurred to me out of the blue, and it’s so weird.

edit: “heute Morgen” means “this morning” (that has passed), but “Heute, Morgen” means “today, tomorrow”.

If there was a name for a Frontend Developer who sits ideally in front-of-the-front-end while also advising Design with regards Accessibility concerns, maybe UX here and there, and the feasibility of actually implementing the design ideas in code...

What would that role be called?

I get that Design Systems and the people who build them sit in this space. But still, what is that role called? And what if I'm not actively the one in charge of the design system?

A few weeks back there was a news cycle about Apple trying to wriggle out of the EU's DMA by claiming that Safari is ACTUALLY 3 totally different browsers (for iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS)...which is hilarious? And sad?

Ich weiß, ich hab das schon vor über einem Jahr mal geposted und es hat sich seit dem nichts getan, aber irgendwie juckts mich noch immer einen Frontend Podcast auf Deutsch zu machen.

Ein bisschen Dinge, vor allem neues Zeug, in CSS erklären, über HTML/a11y sprechen, Gäste einladen, die über ihre Arbeit erzählen oder mir Dinge erklären, etc. Fokus rein auf HTML und CSS. Wäre schon nicht so uncool.

@marcthiele @matuzo @neugierig_fm Da stimme ich zu, es ist sehr viel Arbeit - insbesondere, wenn Du alles alleine machst. Mach die Releasezyklen erstmal lieber übermäßig lang, auch wenn Du instinktiv gerne viel öfters releasen wollen würdest. Diesen unglaublichen Elan hat man nämlich nur zu Beginn und mit der Zeit schlafft man immer weiter ab. Und versuch, Dir möglichst wenig Arbeit damit zu machen, damit Du es dauerhaft nebenher schaffst, wenn Kinder größer / andere Themen spannender.

@davetron5000 thank you for writing this down! I think the big benefit of using Web Components here are being able to use lifecycle hooks. You get the benefits once you start inserting/ajaxing in more of these elements later and they just upgrade themselves w/o manual work from you. Same for deregistering events upon removal (memory leaks).

@marcus @yatil I'd like to add as another negative the wonky if not plainly shitty user experience for sighted users when u have an accordion section open further up the document and u decide to open one further down. Due to the forced closing of the previous section the section u are just opening is being pulled upwards and what u look at now is a huge layout shift and you also totally loose your context. I have my popcorn 🍿 ready for the first people trying them out and hitting that block.

I learned that from @5t3ph. Weird shit! If I'm not mistaken, it should fall back to its initial value as the var resolves to nothing (not even a space). So color should become "CanvasText" which in most system setups is usually black and background-color becomes transparent.
