A web designer has talent in visual design and UX, and knows the basics of HTML & CSS. If they were going to learn one thing about JavaScript to help what they do, what would it be?

adactio,
@adactio@mastodon.social avatar

@chriscoyier

“Find stuff and do stuff to it”

querySelector (they already know CSS for that), then addEventListener, and then …whatever behaviour they’re designing (that last bit could be simple or complex depending on what they want to do—maybe start with changing the classList of an element?)

Bloggers and writers! Which tool(s) are you using to draft and write your posts or articles? And how do you keep track of the status of a piece (idea/draft/edited/published etc.)?

adactio,
@adactio@mastodon.social avatar

@matthiasott I cut out those two middlemen (draft/edited) and go straight from idea to published.

If anything needs changing after I hit publish, I can change it. It’s the web.

The new, jerk ass jerk zombie apocalypse. I really didn’t want to get out of bed at 5 AM so I didn’t and tapped my phone screen until I blindly found the “snooze button.” The phone kept nagging at me every eight minutes so I finally made it upright, out of https://www.brilliantcrank.com/the-new-zombie-apocalypse/

adactio,
@adactio@mastodon.social avatar

@Brilliantcrank I am extremely uncomfortable with your description of non-hermits as “genuinely better humans”, and I say that as someone who also enjoys being around people …but I have enough self-awareness to realise my neurotypical preferences shouldn’t be treated as somehow superior. Live and let live. Different strokes for different folks.
