I hate to say that I called it. In fact I really wish that I had been wrong, when I've been saying repeatedly that we were getting ready for the return of Section 28 in England. At least an updated version of it for transgender youth.

The UK government has announced that it is banning sex education for kids under 9.

I wasn't surprised that George Galloway made his comments about not viewing gay relationships as normal.

What is surprising is the fact Aaron Bastani, who calls himself a journalist, actually was. And that until he heard these remarks, he would have voted for Galloway.

Anyone who has paid any attention to Galloway at all in even just the last five years would know how much of a poisonous lurch to the right he's taken.

Something that popped up in my social media feed memories from 2 years ago seems worth reminiscing about. It was regarding the defection of Christian Wakeford from the Tories to Labour.

I have a hard time believing that Keir Starmer is a genuine change, when he allowed someone like Wakeford into the party, but purged the left.
Labour also kicked out anyone who previously voted Green or SNP, but didn't discipline anyone who leafleted for the Tories as part of the failed 'SNPOut' campaign.

Natalie Elphicke has reportedly apologised for maligning the victims of sexual assault at the hands of her ex-husband.

I say reportedly, as this has only come 4 years after Charlie Elphicke's conviction, and after Labour MPs expressed concern about her being welcomed as a defector from the Conservatives.

Amongst those who had issues with Elphicke's defection, was Jess Philips, the former Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding.

While a lot of attention has been given to the spike in cases of measles, there are other illnesses and health conditions that perhaps warrant more attention from the UK's media.
Namely that we're seeing a huge increase in cases of scurvy and rickets in the UK population.

With the suspension of 30p Lee Anderson, it's worth remembering that he didn't have the whip withdrawn for his vile comments.

He was suspended for not apologising. Which to be honest I am not in any way surprised at. Given that first off he's an imbecilic bigot, who was bound to go too far at some point. He left Labour before being expelled from the party while he was a councillor, and even back then was known to be on far-right Islamophobic groups on Facebook.

Wildcat Haven despite going bust in August and owing Andy Wightman £60,000 in legal costs are back in business.
Only due to UK business laws, they've been allowed to dissolve owing money, and set up again with a similar name.

It was Wildcat Haven Enterprises C.I.C that folded. Wildcat Haven Community Interest Company are under the law a new company, despite the similarity in name, and the same people in charge.
Namely Paul O'Donoghue and his wife.

Why did the BBC platform these known grifters?

The murderers of Brianna Ghey have been formally named as Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, as their sentencing hearing takes place today.

Both are facing a minimum of 17 or 20 years in prison based on the guidelines for sentencing someone of their age.
The judge seems to have ruled out sentencing at His Majesty's Pleasure, and has indicated a likely lowered sentence based on the ages of the convicted.

The prosecution has argued against a sentence reduction.

So-called man of the people Nigel Farage was lying when he said that his bank account had been closed without warning, and was politically motivated.

His account was with Coutts. An exclusive bank for very wealthy people that is owned by NatWest.
He described talking to a member of staff there as dealing with a "lackey". Which I'm sure has endeared him to the bank.

Coutts closed his account as he fell below the wealth threshold they require to maintain an account.

Three things I am finding utterly galling about the remarks about Diane Abbott.

  1. The fact that the House Speaker Lindsay Hoyle, and seemingly the media have no interest in hearing from Abbott herself.
Why was she not asked on to Question Time or Newsnight when she was inevitably going to be part of the main story?

For a good example of the right-wing trying to "both sides" the 30p Lee Anderson remarks about Sadiq Khan giving control of London to Islamists, and having Keir Starmer in his pocket, then you should look no further than Jeremy Kyle and Rod Liddle on TalkTV.

Liddle, who again I would like to point out has been a huge supporter of Islamophobia in the Tory Party. He's suggested that Anderson does one of two things.

Since Carl Benjamin is back in the news, let me give a little more detail of what kind of a despicable excuse for a human being he is, beyond the joking about whether or not he would rape the Labour MP Jess Philips.

  • He thinks the private sector can do no wrong and businesses should be allowed to discriminate against whoever they like.
At least that was true until Twitter banned him for hate speech, and Patreon kicked him off for the same reason when he was making $12,000 per month.

The BBC twice conflated marches in solidarity with Palestinians, and against the brutality being carried out against civilians in violation of Article 33 of the Geneva Convention, to solidarity with Hamas.

There is no solidarity with Hamas.
If Israel was simply responding to Hamas, nobody would be outraged or upset besides the most rabid of anti-Semites.
But shutting off water, power, fuel, and aid to the civilian population, ordering mass relocation, and using white phosphorus are war crimes.

One of the only things I will say positive probably about a Tory, is that Craig Mackinlay, the MP for Thanet South received a well deserved ovation from the Commons as he returned today.
He returned to the chamber for the first time since he lost his arms and legs to sepsis.

He ironically took a moment to apologise to the Speaker over his dress, as he had to wear trainers due to his shoes not fitting over his plastic feet, and his suit jacket wouldn't go over his bionic arms.

Oddly enough, this isn't the worst incident of plagiarism by Rachel Reeves.

That would have to be when in 2016 she seemingly lifted from Enoch Powell's infamous 'Rivers of Blood' speech, warning of potential race riots, and suggesting some communities were a potential "tinderbox" if immigration wasn't drastically curbed following the Brexit vote.

She has not apologised for this speech in the following 7 years.
Not did Labour denounce the speech when she made it.

I actually wish Humza Yousaf would go more on the offensive, and point out just how much further to the right Keir Starmer's Labour are than the SNP and Greens in Scotland.

Starmer is seemingly modelling himself off of Tony Blair. Who appointed two of the most far-right Home Secretaries in living memory, in Jack Straw and David Blunkett.

MPs are set to be awarded a 5.5% pay rise for themselves by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA). Taking their pay from £86,584 per year, to £91,346.

But rather than talk about whether they warrant an inflation busting hike at one of the worst periods the country has faced economically while still being allowed to hold shares and have multiple outside jobs that would potentially influence their politics, it does remind me about 30p Leenoch and what this might mean for him.

The documentary series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, has been beyond disturbing in shining a light on things that went on behind the scenes at the production of kids shows.
Largely at Nickelodeon.

Dan Schneider has tried to do his best impression of a YouTuber caught in a scandal, and gave an interview to a former child actor he worked with pretending to show remorse for his behaviour.

Schneider is infamous for putting sexualised jokes and foot fetish material in all his kids shows.

We're just over a month away from the Rutherglen by-election, and Labour has a rift involving the party and their candidate over trans rights.

Labour candidate Michael Shanks supports the Scottish Government's Gender Recognition reforms, that would allow trans people to be recognised as their gender without waiting 2 years and going through invasive assessments.
Labour of course did not.

Shanks sees no issue with the party in Scotland and the UK having opposing views. He's playing both sides.

I had no intention of watching Barbie.
If anything it would have been either Oppenheimer, or taking my nephews to TMNT in August that would get me back to the movies.

But Barbie seems to be pissing off all the right people in the alt-right griftosphere.

Jeremy 'ManBearPig' Hambly, aka TheQ********* has declared that movie studios are aware of people like him, Geeks&Gamers, etc, and know that if "they go too woke" then they'll be punished for it.
He's coping extremely hard after Spider-Man.

More than 75 current Tory MPs are standing down at the General Election.

Some of which are understandable, as they're retiring due to age. So this would include the likes of Theresa May, Bill Cash, and candidate for the dumbest MP in the Commons, John Redwood.

Others appear to be getting out to avoid embarrassment of losing their seats, or are set to flee to a directorship somewhere.

The Scottish Government has until tomorrow to appeal the decision on the UK veto of the Gender Recognition Act.

It's unlikely they'll change their minds, and carry on with the legal challenge.

This not only feels like an injustice, and capitulating to the likes of the Scottish Family Party. But retreat on whether the UK can just run completely roughshod over any legislation it doesn't like.

Hoping Labour will allow the bill through at a later date is also a huge gamble with people's rights.

It still baffles me how John McTernan is allowed to put himself forward as a representative of Labour in the media.

He was the architect of the downfall of Labour in Scotland, serving as then leader Jim Murphy's chief of staff.
McTernan is also responsible for the collapse of Julia Gillard's Labour government in Australia in 2013, when he openly provoked the 2012 race riot. He salivates over the idea of campaigning on racist platforms, openly describing the electorate as racist by nature.

I think the only thing funnier than gammon MPs flying off the handle at a hoax about "hot tick buns", is the number of actual news outlets that ran the story as well.

The Independent, Telegraph, Express, Sun, LBC, National, Evening Standard, and various local newspapers across the country ran the "hot tick buns" story as real, with talk of "customer backlash", or "upset to religious groups".

I know standards in journalism are pretty crap these days. But come on...

A couple of quick amendments and clarifications.

The UK did not return medals to those who were stripped of them, until 2021 when a blanket pardon was issued for those who had been kicked out for simply engaging in non-criminal homosexual activity.
Again, something Blair's government never bothered with.

Blair gave Labour MPs a free vote on repealing the ban on gay people in the armed services in 1996. But did not vote himself.
That's recorded in Hansard. Division No. 125, 9th May 1996.
