Large dog breeds need to be trained very carefully. My friends have a 100 lbs husky, just a massive wolf looking dog. When he was a pup, he was food protective, so they made sure to train that behavior completely out of Steel(the dog).
In the present day, Steel is 8 years old, in the prime of his physical size and health, and the sweetest boi. With different owners, he’d have negative habits that lead his behaviour and made him dangerous.
Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don’t come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don’t really get upset by...
The concept of being vegan originated from a newsletter for vegetarian recipes in the UK, in the '60s, I believe. It was purely for recipes. Veganism was an offshoot of this newsletter that, from day one, was far more ideological. The people who ran this newsletter immediately succumb to much of the infighting common amongst the vegan community online today. It wasn’t about a diet, it was about who could be the better person by being the most vegan.
I hate to break it to you, but vegans have been preachy and annoying since the concept originated.
Actually a bear is very unlikely to come after you. I come from an extremely rural part of Alberta, Canada, and large bears would sometimes wander in and near town. They wouldn’t run around swiping people up and murdering them, they would just basically wander around eating garbage and looking for food. The reality is that if you were in the woods with a random bear, unless it was starving or you were near its Cubs, it likely wouldn’t see you as important.
I’ll tell you what though. The bodies of indigenous women would get found in the woods sometimes. Bears didn’t put them there, men did.
First of all, snitches are scum. Second of all, that drug dealer needs to stay on people’s good side if any random dude in your neighborhood can out you like that
Your metalhead friend was correct. I personally think that that “Metallica” died with Cliff Burton. No hate to Jason Newstead, but Cliff was the one in the band with musical integrity.
I agree completely. There are versions of Justice that can be found online where the bass is mixed back in, and I highly recommend them. Newstead put in work on that album.
I started playing at 14. I am now 36 and am a extremely proficient player. A good friend of mine has been playing since he physically could hold a guitar, effectively his entire life. While he is a far superior musician to me, the difference between our abilities can only really be seen in the extremely minut details, details only other musicians can notice. We’re effectively peers.
My point is that it’s never too late to start playing music. The world begins to suck a little less when a new musician is born.
It’s a byproduct of our lack of a mental health care system. While I do agree that it can be dangerous, self-diagnosis is necessary because there is no mental health system in place. Be it America or Canada, mental health is not considered Healthcare. Therefore, the only way for a person to explore mental health related issues is for them to diagnose themselves first, and then go exploring for professional perspective afterwards.
Claiming that self diagnosis is “seeking special treatment” is incredibly cynical. Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence. People aren’t wrong for taking part in self-analysis. Examining your behavior and seeking to understand why you act the way you act is how you learn to reflect on your behavior and become a better person as you age. If your initial reaction to this post is to assume a malicious motive, then you could do with some self analysis as well. Why do you think you automatically assumed the worst of reasonings behind self diagnosis? That’s something that may be with exploring about yourself.
Self-Diagnosis is the first step in that process. Until mental health care is considered Healthcare, something our General health practitioners prioritize just as much as physical health, self-diagnosis is necessary.
Maybe it was unintentional, but there was a condescending and belittling tone to the phrasing you chose. You don’t get to hide behind the literal wording of your statement when there was condescension within your phrasing.
In Canada, all square screws are called Robinson. If you go into a hardware store and ask for square head screws, the worker will correct you and say “the Robinsons are this way”.
