I take the corruption of the House of Lords (as it legislates) seriously, but not the silly baubles our rulers dish out to each other.
The Lords needs reform, structure, rationale. Re the bauble side, needs a Monty Pythonesque committee creating new outrageous titles (with no power attached), or revive historic ones (keeper of the stool, anyone?). They’d soon stop craving them.
And of course, dump anything with the word ‘Empire’ in it.
