I love that instead of doing any type of introspection about letting someone that has been channeling Hitler in his campaign rails, and tried to overthrow the US government to remain in power represent your political party, they just want to change the rules basically making the choice for the voters that might want a real candidate.

Palestinian poll shows a rise in Hamas support and close to 90% wanting US-backed Abbas to resign (apnews.com)

The findings by a Palestinian pollster signal more difficulties ahead for the Biden administration’s postwar vision for Gaza and raise questions about Israel’s stated goal of ending Hamas’ military and governing capabilities....

They have lived in fear under Hamas, but also are not going to side with the people deleting generations of their people from the face of the earth daily.

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

If Israel actually wanted to rid the area of Hamas, I think humanitarian aid and taking care of the people might have been more persuasive than bombing their families out of existence.

What always blows my mind the most is how these people see no issue with filing for bankruptcy (sometimes multiple times), but are against “handouts” like social security and unemployment that people pay into and are earned benefits. The same people that grumbled about “nobody wants to work”, but then stole thousands of dollars in COVID relief money they had no right to.

Justice Department Must Reveal the Real Scope of Domestic Terrorism (www.brennancenter.org)

The Department of Justice has been publishing incomplete and conflicting data on domestic terrorism, thwarting effective policymaking and accountability on an issue it claims to prioritize. In December, the Brennan Center sent a letter to the department urging it to augment its data collection methods to ensure more accurate...

Not at all surprising. During all the BLM marches I would classify not only the Proud Boys and other white supremacist groups, but also all the Police Officers firing rubber bullets, flash bangs, and pepper spray/tear gas canisters AT unarmed citizens while tossing a water to a white kid they watched kill someone right in front of them. Hard to catch/count them all when they work for you.

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

At what point is it more “work” to just do the wrong thing instead of what people are paying for? Also if people were already embalmed, why wouldn’t you just put the body in the casket (since you don’t embalm ppl for cremation)? Or do the “cremate everything” route I’ve read of other places getting in trouble for? At least it’s not having to stack bodies in a room that the article describes as basically hell on earth.

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

Sounds like more reason to burn “the evidence” (aka cremate) afterwards. Not sure how staking bodies in a building is a long term solution. I guess when you’re the kind of person that can do that to people grieving, you’re also not too bright.

I think HDMI cables is a rabbit hole subject you can really lose some time with. I don’t know how everyone is feeling about Linus these days (I never heard how his independent ethics audit went), but he did a big deep dive on this and found result all over the place. Some cables costing WAY more than they should being total garbage, and some cheap ones being relatively OK and meeting spec, with no real way to know who is safe without either 1) testing them yourself OR 2) finding someone doing a wide batch of testing.

NYC Mayor Adams Loses Showdown Over 2 Criminal Justice Bills (www.nytimes.com)

Police officers will be required to record the race, age and gender of most people they stop and solitary confinement will be banned in New York City jails after the City Council overrode Mayor Eric Adams’s veto of two criminal justice bills on Tuesday....

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

How would keeping statistical data on who police are stopping going to make the city and jails more dangerous? What is his rationale for that statement/belief?

Because without a great argument it sounds like he feels more accountability is going to lead to more disciplinary action, which could mean less cops on the streets. Seems like what he should be pushing for, if he was actually concerned about public safety would be to start getting departments all over NY to start cleaning house of cops they know are “not the best people”. Increase training on de-escalation techniques, and drill into them the consequences of trying to be Rambo with a badge.

Remember that he also launders lots of Russian money as a motivator not to “know” anything, aside from his desire to also be a dictator like Putin.

The Trump Organization

Trump’s eldest son, Donald Jr., was quoted as saying at a 2008 New York real estate conference, “In terms of high-end product influx into the US, Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets … We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”

I wish more musicians had joined Pearl Jam back in the day, but instead they were left to stand up for fans alone. And now Ticketmaster has only gotten bigger/worse since. 😩

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

Having a court appointed auditor also makes it difficult for him to use laundered money (or otherwise illegal sources). He has already claimed the auditor has cost him “millions”, which isn’t a thing if you’re operating “beautifully” and above board all legal like.

Not to completely shit on dad here either, it could well be that he is also on the spectrum and has lived in an environment that has instilled in him that you just ignore your needs because that makes you “normal”. That is why I was wondering about mom, as it is more than likely one of them is on the spectrum also and perhaps just never diagnosed and their child being diagnosed has unlocked some shit.

Anyways I’m not a psychiatrist, just going through my own adult realization of things, and it’s not easy.

Israeli undercover forces dressed as women and medics storm West Bank hospital, killing 3 militants (apnews.com)

The Palestinian Health Ministry said Israeli forces opened fire inside the wards of the Ibn Sina Hospital in the town of Jenin. The ministry condemned the raid and called on the international community to pressure Israel’s military to halt such operations in hospitals. A hospital spokesperson said there was no exchange of...

Yeah, weird that anyone would pick up a gun and point at a group of people that just bombed away generations of non-combatants, because they may just fear for their (and loved ones) lives at this point. They are now fueling the group that takes the place of Hamas by continuing to go scorched earth on all of Gaza.

Trump's lawyers seek to suspend $83M defamation verdict, citing 'strong probability' it won't stand (apnews.com)

Donald Trump’s lawyers asked a New York judge Friday to suspend an $83.3 million defamation verdict against the former president, saying there was a “strong probability” that it would be reduced on appeal, if not eliminated....

I think this, just like his NY one, are desperate attempts because he doesn’t have the money and cannot find anyone to cover a bond for him. He knows the next step is they start seizing assets, and that’s when we find out how over leveraged he is on all his properties.

Maybe all these religious groups should put some of their tax free slush funds towards an insurance system that doesn’t have to respect people’s rights, and instead dictates their followers health care based on their own interpretation of what the Sky Wizard may have said.

TimLovesTech,

I’m not following your logic here. Not voting, or actually voting for Trump both work in his favor because his base is going to vote for him no matter what. You would only be hurting the side that wants us to continue to have future elections. But at the end of the day if you can look in the mirror and be ok with selling out democracy more power to ya.

They have facilities that are used to keep “protected” inmates (ex. - informants, flippers) out of general population prisons that they could put him in and have him be the only inmate in the building.

If convicted he would (plebs would anyway) start serving his time while his appeals process works its way to be heard by the appellate court. And if he does time at all, he would probably be out before his case made it for review, which would then only serve to strike the felony/felonies conviction(s) from his record (if he wins of course).

His CFO is also doing his 2nd round at Rikers because he would rather purger himself then snitch on the crime boss. And also something to do with his “don’t flip” NDA he has with Trump that gives him a bonus for not cooperating with law enforcement that came to light during this current trial.

Two of my favorite consoles of all time. If they could do an updated retro console based on the Intellivision II and allow playing Atari 2600 games without buying a separate adapter I would be in heaven.

I have bins of games, but my controllers did not age 40+ years all that well. 😞

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

My Atari joystick still works, it’s more my Intellivision controllers. But having a nicer way to play on a modern TV with the original games with higher quality controllers would be amazing.

The US has child labor (several “red” states that have pushed for younger work ages), and one party is actively working on the King part.
