Standing up for your principles isn’t ridiculous, and had more artists done the same Spotify might have gotten the message. It’s not too dissimilar to when Pearl Jam pulled out of all Ticketmaster venues in the 90s over the price gouging of ticket prices. Had other artists had the nerve to do so as well maybe we wouldn’t have the insane concert ticket pricing of today.

I feel like I did at one point, but I have bubbles disabled as I found it annoying/useless. I’m also on a 7 Pro, but I feel like I saw it back on my 6 …

Bannon was also sentenced to a similar amount of time, but the judge let him free while he awaits his appeal to work its way through the system.

It should also be stated that the site originally was running Mastodon with a new skin to try and hide it. They have since acknowledged it and posted the source code required on the Legal page apparently (according to Wikipedia).

Yeah, air dropping aid into a densely populated area where there is little standing/safe shelter seems like maybe a poor idea.

I’m in no way “successful”, but just wanted to say that you need to stop comparing yourself with others, it’ll lead you in an endless circle. You also don’t sound like a failure to me, relationships are hard, and having the trifecta of ADHD/Autism/Trauma does not make things easy. We need to work harder for everything and the world is designed for neurotypicals, so stop beating yourself up for being above average when you’re working harder than most you’re probably envious of.

It also might not be a bad idea to talk to someone about your trauma, and how it’s apparently impacting your view of yourself.

The Feds Are Coming for “Extremist” Gamers (theintercept.com)

Gaming companies are coordinating with the FBI and Department of Homeland Security to root out so-called domestic violent extremist content, according to a new government report. Noting that mechanisms have been established with social media companies to police extremism, the report recommends that the national security agencies...

So this isn’t about actual gamers, this about bad actors looking for chuds to recruit through games, which is not a new concept. It used to be chat rooms, and then forums, then social media, now games (as many have social features).

I mean the US military, among others, have been using gaming to recruit people already.

This is all to say: we’ve been given many different channels and suggestions by the developers during our time on this platform for how to influence priorities. However, those priorities still have not materialized even after we used those channels and followed those suggestions–in fact, we’ve often observed our priorities seemingly being derided, played down at times, or to languish.

To me, this sounds like they were repeatedly trying to get the devs to work on what Beehaw wanted, and they are upset that those demands have not been met.

is there any program to force a linux based OS or a mac to only use outlet power and not battery power, even if I cannot physically remove the battery?

more questions about the MacBook Pro, Core i5, 2.8 GHz (I5-4308U), model A1502 (EMC 2875), a model where I cannot disconnect the battery, because the whole case is closed, a model Im going to use to experiment with mac and create a partition to install a linux distro alongside the mac os....

For under Linux I found this, and for under macOS I found this.

Having a court appointed auditor also makes it difficult for him to use laundered money (or otherwise illegal sources). He has already claimed the auditor has cost him “millions”, which isn’t a thing if you’re operating “beautifully” and above board all legal like.

Ground cinnamon sold at discount stores is tainted with lead, FDA warns (apnews.com)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said cinnamon sold by stores including the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar contains lead at levels that could be unsafe for people, particularly children, with prolonged exposure to the spice. The agency urged suppliers to recall the products voluntarily....

My understanding from the apple sauce pouch issue that uncovered the source to be cinnamon, is that most of these spices are grown/processed outside the US, and $ is based on weight. So what is an easy way to tip the scales cheaply, lead. 😩

EDIT - here is the FDA write up about it.

Christian nationalism's support is strongest in rural, conservative states (www.npr.org)

In states including North Dakota, Mississippi, Alabama and West Virginia, half or nearly half of residents support the view that Christians should dominate all areas of American society, including its laws, according to a new survey about the influence of Christian nationalism by the Public Religion Research Institute, based on...

I have always heard Natural Ice beer referred to as “Natty-Ice”, so this just made me do a double take.

The follow up question to something insane like this should always be what sect of Christianity? Should it be Catholics? Should it be Protestants? Should it be TV evangelicals?

None of the major groups would want one of the others making the rules anymore than the rest of the US wants to live under the laws of the Church.

Trump did very publicly tell members of the Proud Boys, which is a recognized hate group, to “stand back and stand by”. So in allowing Trump to run the party they must also allow in all these wannabe Nazis, as these are his people, his “muscle”. He very much sees himself as the mob boss he has always wanted to be, but becoming president allowed him to create this cult that also has no issue answering his calls for violence.

Trump also has no loyalty to anyone, which is irony lost on a man that demands it from everyone else. And I think most in the party know by now that unless you want the cult putting the crosshairs on your back, you better stay in line.

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

Trump’s problem now is that:

  1. this is all very public
  2. that kind of money is going to leave a trail and is being watched - it’s not his typical moving the shell game he is used to

I have seen some videos on things like vertical gardens in shipping containers that seem like they would be a great way to bring produce to urban areas that is both fresh, and nearby in terms of logistics.

This looks like a decent article about it from a few years ago on a company in Denver. There are a growing number of companies working on this also, and maybe with some government funds it could spread faster, and in areas most in need first.

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

Also the violence, don’t forget the violence! Trump controls a cult that will unleash chaos on anyone that opposes their leader.

Trump's lawyers seek to suspend $83M defamation verdict, citing 'strong probability' it won't stand (apnews.com)

I think this, just like his NY one, are desperate attempts because he doesn’t have the money and cannot find anyone to cover a bond for him. He knows the next step is they start seizing assets, and that’s when we find out how over leveraged he is on all his properties.

West Virginia’s Republican-controlled House of Delegates voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to allow teachers and other school staff who undergo training to carry guns in K-12 public schools.

What does this “training” look like? Giving a gun to staff who are going to just point in the general direction and unload could very well catch kids and staff in friendly fire. Also law enforcement needs to be consistent that they are walking into a situation where friendly fire is a very real possibility.

I feel like this would just create more situations where cops are just waiting outside or in hallways afraid of where all the guns are.

Currently playing Lords of the Fallen. I’m almost to the end, it’s been a lot of dying, but a lot of fun also!

TimLovesTech,

I disagree, and think it brings all sorts of new takes on the Souls Like formula. But in the end we don’t have to agree and just play what we enjoy. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

I have not played the original so I can’t do a comparison. I play on Linux with a Nvidia 3060Ti and fame runs fine, no real issues yet. If you read the forums though, it’s like any other game and does have some bugs for some people. It also being a souls like, means that it’ll never have enough of X or Y or Z for everyone. People complain it’s too hard, some that it’s too easy, some people hate invasions, others think that constant invasions make it better. I would watch a video or two with some game play and you could probably quickly tell if you would want to try it yourself. It also has multiple endings that you can’t do in one run, unlike a lot of the Elden Ring ending where you can then choose at the end.

The GOP logic doesn’t compute. Do they think that all the working poor are just going to stop working if they could actually go to a Dr. and perhaps get healthier? Do they suddenly have no bills? The unemployment rate is also 3.7% right now, how many people do they possibly think they could “force” to work for health coverage that don’t work currently because they have to pay bills they can barely cover? I would love to see them just try and produce some kind of statistics behind of this that shows anything other than just “we need to punish the poor”, because apparently being poor has always been something we need to punish.

TimLovesTech,
@TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

It’s like the people that are strongly against unemployment, you pay into the damn thing so you have it when you need it. Nobody is giving you a hand out, you are just getting back money you allowed the government to make interest/investments with. And having healthier people just seems like a net win for society, but I think some of these people just don’t want “those people” to have it, so it’s easier and less racist looking to take it away from everyone.

Mastodon is part of the fediverse though, and is open and a nonprofit. Bluesky is neither of those things, and that is why it’s different.

And giving the resources from a free and open network to a for-profit corporation is both dumb and rude IMHO.
