I am accidentally rushing through the latest expedition in No Man's Sky due to excitement! I might finish it tonight before bed because the objectives are getting easier to complete. Furthermore, I liked the desolation of Adrift and finding only ruin in place of civilization.
Part of me wishes for this to be a game mode that one could play in No Man's Sky!
The only reason I am taking a break is that my body is complaining and desires food; Otherwise, I'd be playing more.
Ah, nothing makes me feel more alive than James Stephanie Sterling roasting a bad video game made by dark pattern worshipers! This one is Star Wars: Hunters, sounds like absolute trash, a case of as James Stephanie puts it, "grifter see, grifter do".
@Dennis5891 There are so many unethical free to play games out there these days; A shame, but as long as an audience exists for those dark pattern developers, it will persist.
I got Proton Unlimited sooner than I thought, which is good! Tonight, I’ll transfer my passwords over to Proton Pass and clear all passwords from Microsoft. I will use Microsoft Authenticator for my Microsoft Account, switching the other 2FA accounts to Proton Pass as extra privacy is nice!
@crcollins I already had the email account and found it to be lovely. The bonuses of a paid account are quite lovely, made even sweeter because Proton has no plans to get heavily involved with LLM BS. 🤩
Got most of my stuff from OneDrive in downloading process on my second huge hard drive. Next week, after paying my bills, I will move over to Proton Unlimited for all the perks. Realistically, I need 500G of cloud storage because I will consistently delete any backed up content which is out of date. Documents are really the only thing that I need to keep up to date in the future, I went cloud for most things. Like Apple Music, but I still have a hard copy of my music saved.
I will be purchasing an external SSD or HHD for my larger collections of media; likely a 4TB depending on the price. I may even get a larger drive, as one of my media folders is an eye-watering 1TB worth of digital media.
Having sifted through my options between harder and easier, I will likely go with Proton Drive as that will allow me to combine costs into one service. It will save me money, and that makes me quite happy. I will still use a Microsoft account due to having an Xbox and password less login…
However, my reliance on them is greatly lessened. I will be less reliant on Google too, there are some accounts that are a pain in the ass to change. In 2024 that is untenable!
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds I was a little surprised too at first, but I thought about my use case and I understood the need for a proprietary base. Honestly, even if I could, Mac would be useless to me. It doesn't fit the plan.
@wendigo Yeah, since I went iPhone; the pieces in my case fell into place due to needing an Apple related thing to maintain my iPhone myself (in case something happened).
From a Desktop hardware perspective, it's well-supported by the Linux Kernel. Due to my unspecialized needs, it can fully remain a Linux machine.
I can see your point as well, it's fairly clear to me, knowing the good things Windows does have and provides...
Ran into my first issue with Ubuntu, GNOME Tweaks made my system act up on the X session but not Wayland…Of course, this issue happened just as I needed to be out the door!
However, on my way to work I figured out how to reset my mouse cursor to default. A CLI command while not logged in will correct my mouse issue. I will uninstall GNOME Tweaks as it doesn’t play well with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
@wendigo True, I could get my hands dirty with dconf editor but if it gnome shell is acting out due to GNOME Tweak…I simply don’t know yet. Better preparation is in order for that CLI journey. 🤣
I did say I wanted to learn and I meant it! I currently have a safety net of my USB Ubuntu installer.
ROFL Of course Sony would make PSN a requirement for their two PC ports, shooting themselves in the foot while running is so clever! A non-starter for me, I won't buy either game even if they decide to make it optional. Can't reward their foolishness.
@Klumpmeister Yeah, the double dipping in both markets is pretty bad. Especially when PSN could be considered worse than EA or Ubisoft's own online services. In terms of games, I think Sony is fine, but they need to take a hard look at their store; culling some games which don't meet a higher standard.
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds Sony doing layoffs didn’t help either. I saw something that PS4 players account for nearly half of their traffic which is funny given how old the PS4 is.
The sad thing about the Marvelous Game Showcase is that nobody ran 'Diligently Under Development' by any native English speakers. 'Dud' is all that I see every time I read that subtitle and it's driving me crazy. The games they've shown off so far look interesting.
Of the titles that I was interested in Farmagia, Story of Seasons, and Rune Factory: Project Dragon; I think the new Rune Factory game appeals to me the most. An Earthmate who communicates with the world using the art of dance is interesting!
Second place had to be the new Story of Seasons game they showed off...The idea of gliding in such a game is interesting. New traversal types can sometimes shake up a genre. Farmagia doesn't yet appeal to me, need more info first.

Erebus would gently capture the wayward spider and return it to the outdoors because their home doesn't have good prey options.
Damian, who is terrified of creepy crawlies would kill it; keeping knowledge of the deed a secret otherwise Erebus would be sad.
Before work, I had Arthur rob a train with the bros and captured some bounties! While this was incredibly profitable, robbing trains will be a quest activity only. As it would be tricky to pull off well solo. Bounties are easier to capture and it helps me keep Arthur’s honor fairly high.
I upgraded my guns after getting this big payday; getting incredibly distracted due to random events out in the RDR2 world. One day, I’ll hunt small game for a quest. 🤣

ROFL People are testing my patience at work today, no surprise as it’s a holiday! Makes them extra inattentive and careless about things related to money or pumping gas. As I’ve had to be extra vigilant, I’m feeling ill because of anxiety building up. I will work tomorrow instead of taking a mental health day.

@Knightky It wasn't necessarily that they were treating me badly; it was more that they were careless/inattentive and I needed to take on more mental load.
Today, before work I played more Red Dead Redemption 2! Arthur only got slain once because I’m getting used to the shooting mechanics, and reacting faster to enemies. Also, I found ammo that boosts my gun’s damage which makes it easier for me to defeat his foes. I even completed an objective using a cheeky tactic, it was a fun if harrowing encounter (the one which caused Arthur’s untimely demise). After work tonight, I’ll fish and hunt to earn more money. Got a big bounty to pay!
@Dennis5891 I would say the first game is one you don’t need to play, you could have a blast with RDR2 as RDR is quite dated in my opinion. It’s a wild thing to say for a game that isn’t super ancient. There are some connections to the first game, but it isn’t deep enough to require playing these games in order. Unless, that is your desire! There’s only a few things that bother me in RDR2 like the self indulgent skinning sequences and lack of animation cancellation.
