@gamingonlinux I really wish it was playable on Linux. The Epic version at least, is not. At least not without some really messy workarounds, because some FMVs are in some unknown codec, which does not work on Proton. Of course, SE could change that, but that would make too much sense 😕

For my birthday, I'd really like it if my beloved fedi could spread word far and wide of Kitsune Tails. It's a platformer with a heartwarming story featuring queer main characters and personal discoveries in classic SMB3 style. It's coming out this year and the team and I have been working hard on it for several years now. Most of the team is queer in some form so by boosting you'd not only be making me happy on my birthday, but supporting a bunch of queer creators making queer art as well

yuzu kitsune tails, a purple haired fox girl, picks up samurai armor in a tower that's rapidly filling with lava. she jumps away from the rising lava and sticks her spear in the wall, doing a dashing twirl to get on top of it. she walks off the spear and into a new scene, fighting a ghost fox with armor and spear. it stabs and she jumps over, but is caught by a follow up stab. the ghost fox over extends and its ghostly powers wane, giving yuzu a chance to bop on its head

@gamingonlinux To be completely honest, I don't really get how or why your experience is like this. It's truly a pity. Most people I've seen here on Fedi are really cool and polite. While I agree that Discord has become kind of a shitshow over the years, I don't think that I have to remind everybody like this. Then again, I still use it, so maybe I'm biased.

put in a triple* day yesterday, and today dealt with bureaucracy, so i think im just take the rest of the day off. i think thats okay

this week cyprus has a long weekend cause of orthodox easter which means nobody will bug me about bureaucracy or paperwork until weds at the earliest. that's a relief at least

*how do you put in a triple day? well i count dealing with emotionally stressful paperwork and bureaucracy as a day of work, plus i put in 9 continuous no break hours of work in on kitsune tails, which counts as a double, so together they're a triple

So, a question, this time. Which language do people prefer for backend webdev for a website with a database? I hear PHP has some issues for many reasons (though I don't seem to remember having any issues with it), and I was told by multiple people to avoid it. NodeJS seems cool but there doesn't seem to be any healthy ORM that supports automatic DB migrations without discarding support for something else. Microsoft's solution seems good too, but might sometimes be overkill.

@danjac Yes, I've worked with Laravel (and Symfony) before. I don't seem to have too many issues with those beyond certain upgrades. I wonder why people hate PHP so much anyway?

i dont know if there is just something wrong with my brain but any time i have to look at a diagram for how code flows i find it several orders of magnitude harder to follow than the actual code

does this happen to anyone else? like, you look at some kinda code flowchart diagram and your eyes just glaze over and your brain is just "okay that sure is some lines and boxes you've got there"

Wondering how people make such amazing . I'm something of a digital artist myself, but Pixel Art intimidates me and I can't really do much with it. I'm trying to create sprites for my game and I'm having a difficult time making something that doesn't look bad. I tried on 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64 canvases for spritework, to no avail. Wonder if anybody could give tips? I heard people start from silhouettes, then detail, and then outlining, but I just can't see that? Any help would be nice.

some real fedi tips:

  1. no, you should not make a mastosoc account, use anything else i beg of you

  2. while liking a post doesn't boost it in an algorithm, it makes the original poster happy so you should do it

  3. don't use a bunch of hashtags everywhere you look like a mainstream twitter user

  4. if you're not gay when you join you'll be gay by the time you leave

@octofloofy @mia I see, that makes some amount of sense, too. Moderation is an issue, too. But then again, other Mastodon instances have their own set of rules and block lists for other instances, and this makes things complicated. Then again, this is what one signed up for when coming into the fediverse but the problem IMO here is that people are looking for an alternative of the (un)funny bird site.

@octofloofy @mia I suppose I could run my own private instance of Mastodon which would solve quite a few issues, but imagine having to 1. have a server for it, 2. maintain and update it, 3. go through the "installation" process, which shouldn't be bad for computer scientists like me, but ehhhh. Hahaha. I'm actually fine with being on mastosoc rn but yeah, there's some issues, hahaha

@octofloofy Ah. So, what are the really problematic instances, then? That's the thing. Everybody has different definitions of what is problematic, hahaha. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of agreement on the "really" problematic ones, but yeah. It all comes down preferences on moderation and blocking.
