It wasn’t even a parenting book, it was a kids book helping them to understand about same sex parents. Apparently at the meeting some people said maybe it should be moved to the adults section until it was pointed out it is for kids.
Today in a Privacy community a post about YouTube. No word about privacy but all about which software or settings are needed to watch videos and the money needed to host videos. It made me wonder whether some of you can lead a meaningful life without YouTube. Or will a cold turkey bring the worst out of you ?
I don’t get the appeal of YouTube. I use it for maybe the odd music video or something, but often you’ll just get someone’s annoying commentary instead of the actual thing.
Yeah I guess if you’ve been using it for a long time and have favourites built up that would work. I remember when YouTube started and it was pretty good, but with every video trying to game the algorithms I couldn’t imagine trying to start afresh now.
I think I heard something about the smaller parties getting more funding in the next election if they get more votes. The big parties will always get votes, it’s nice to help the smaller parties out if you believe in them.
I’ve thinking about ditching my Protonmail email address with Posteo since I need IMAP support (because I hate using the Protonmail app) and honestly paying for Proton Mail Plus didn’t worth the money because they are pushing me to buy the Protonmail Unlimited but I don’t need all those capabilities nor would I use them...
I just ditched Proton Unlimited after moving to it last year from Google. The Drive app just never worked properly. Ended up going with Fastmail for email as I’m in Australia anyway and so far they’ve been good.
I’m still trying to understand searxng, does it start with nothing and build up its index each time you search? Will your results be rubbish for a while?

Damn I forgot about Reader 😞 I kept my late-00s “Legacy” Google Apps account until the end of last year, when their discounted rate (after fully removing free) was about to go up.
I did some very quick searching, according to this carnewschina.com/…/new-2023-byd-dolphin-launched-… the Dolphin launched in China for ~AUD$25,400 and you can currently buy it in Australia from AUD$38,890.
So it’s obviously more but they have their government discounts. Depending on the state here you can get rebates too.
I read through all of them a couple of years ago, he’s one of my favourite writers and all the books are pretty good. They jump around a lot and try different things which keep it interesting, from what I remember.
