  2. Friends
  3. Memories
  4. Saved
  5. Groups
    etc. etc.

What do you expect to see when you click #2, "Friends"?

Oh neat, restic forget has "keep within" options that save backups based on date rather than count.

Thinking of switching to: save all twice-daily snapshots from the past week, and keep daily snapshots for the past month, weekly for the past 2 months, monthly for the past year, nothing beyond a year.

That feels pretty safe and would eliminate about 300GB of snapshots.
