Because people over here aren’t losing their minds over something that could maybe be misunderstood as a Nazi gesture.

Germany owns up to the history of the state it superseded and does many things to prevent those events from happening again, first and foremost: not silencing it to death and acting like nothing happened.

Something the US could use a lot more of, to be honest.

berkeleyblue,
@berkeleyblue@lemmy.world avatar

True, but this hardly even comes close to it…

berkeleyblue,
@berkeleyblue@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, actual imagery and gestures that is. Not something that an over sensitive person could maybe misinterpret that way if they squinted really hard.

If you don’t do anythithing very specific, iWork is just fine to and has been free for the last 11 Years. And most people probably don’t use Adobe’s Creative Suite (that’s paid on Windows just the same anyway)

I think it’s even worse: If I’m curios and buy a ticket yet absolutely hate the film after seeing it, i still paid a ticket. So Ticket sales are absolutely unrelated to the quality of the movie.

I also just started to realize how out of touch most critics are with regular viewers (or me at least). Some films on IMDB have horrible critics reviews yet the user reviews are almost always higher or even quite decent.

The emergency opening on both front doors are purely mechanical though.

Walkie talkie. Do you use it?

I’ve tried it with my SO during a visit to IKEA. So when we were apart for a few minutes I was able to give an update where I am or what was interesting so look at. But in public I found it rather awkward others listening to our conversation. And now I can’t think of other use cases. So how, when, where and with whom do you...

I get where you’re comming from, but just as a side note: Unless it’s really noisy around you, there’s no ned to have the watch that close to your mouth. ;-)

I don’t know I always felt not dying was worth feeling like absolute shit for a while.

Is it possible I am intersex if I apparently have a very wide female pelvic bone and everything else is male?

I was assigned male at birth but have increasingly started to notice over the years that other guys don’t have a big notch on either side of their torsos like I do. It’s my pelvic bone. I would go to a doctor to see what they had to say but they’ve seen me plenty of times and said absolutely nothing about being intersex...

Biology isn’t binary. I would stop looking for labels and just be you.

That‘s a bit misleading… They said the Userbase isn’t yet high enough for them to put in effort to make it available. That might change.

Why they went out of their way to make the iPad App unavailable, that I do not know. They might have wanted a different user experience and decided to disable it till they have time to persue that idea 🤷‍♂️

Give it a year or two when the Vision userbase grew and we‘ll see what happens.

What non-SMS non-Apple app can I use to "text" my younger kid on their iPad

Hi! My less-than-10-year-old has their own iPad (registered under my apple id) and wants to be able to “text” with the rest of the family. Most of us are not Apple people though: Android phones, using some combo of SMS, Discord, and Signal. The little one doesn’t have a phone, so I think that prevents us from signing them...

You got a lot of good advice already. I just wanted to add: Do not share your Apple ID with someone. Always leads tk trouble, lost data and things that people see that shouldn’t have seen it.

If they are 10, use family sharing and create a Children Account for them. All the benefits, non of the issues.

Here’s how this works: www.apple.com/family-sharing/

Definetly periods, stupid design and incredibly rare in mamals anyway.

Also, a change of our metabolism, our current way to deal with excess energy is outdated. And maybe make us resistant to cancers, that shit sucks.

I read this same sentiment two days ago; Google doesn’t work for me.

Not sure what they are on about. I can find things I‘m looking for on Google in under a Minute 9 out of 10 times and I tend to use it quite heavily tbh…

No fucking way is this the best and safest way to conductvthat trial o.O

berkeleyblue,

Ooooohhhh…. That‘s a bit harsh. What could she have done to deserve this

berkeleyblue,

Tradition, mostly.

Dickens used Merry Christmas in his Christmas Carol and the US used the greeting since the 19th century.

In the UK however, happy christmas is more common as the royals used that phrase.

There’s apparently no big thing behind it. Just the way language evolved with different influences in different regions.

It does. And also just plain old bribing. I work for a big Tech Company, and while I‘m only a Retail employee, I have been offered quite some money throughout the years to share my logins (which honestly wouldn’t get you very far). People with more acces than me (Managment or Support employees) apparently received offers in upper 5 Digit territories. If you ask enough people, I‘m not 100% confident that all would say no to that. But to be fair, there’s a lot of hurdles now in between those things with acces being restricted to internal networks, multi factor and trusted device policies a real crackdown on who has access to what. Passwords allone don’t get you very far anymore.

Why the hell would you send a SWAT team to someone suicidal? O.o

I guess he means a drop of spot? Not a parking space but a space where you can drive to and let people hop out of your car, saying bye with a kiss?

I use Newsexplorer for upwards of 40 feeds now. Never had an issue.

berkeleyblue,
@berkeleyblue@lemmy.world avatar

I mean to be fair you could just show the Screenshot and then link the image to the tweet (or whatever it is called now…). Best of both worlds (but more work)

berkeleyblue,
@berkeleyblue@lemmy.world avatar

I think it just assumes it’s blocked if can’t get any image for a certain amount of time. I had siniliar issueas on darker roads here in Switzerland. Comes and goes though and everything still works fine. Don’t think it can differentiate between darkness and obstruction.

Just got my Model Y with Hardware 4 this week, interested in seeing if that makes a difference as visibility in low light seems to be a ton better than on my HW3 Model 3. I‘ll let You know if anything changed :-)

Why do I enjoy the combination of two flavours if they arrive separately, but hate them when they arrive pre-combined?

By way of an example, I was eating a salad which had raw onions in it. I then took a sip of Coke. The combination of the two flavours was amazing, but I know that if someone handed me an onion-infused Coke, I’d find it horrid....

berkeleyblue,
@berkeleyblue@lemmy.world avatar

I mean eating onnions and then sipping on a coke isn’t exactly the same as an onnion INFUSED coke :-/
