It's hard to believe that those same Goths would still be around almost a century later to release music like "Cities in Dust" and "Lucretia, My Reflection" but they were.

    genuinely I dislike this stuff so much. was at a party last night and one of the people there was like "oh yeah, (3 different signs) tend to not like me or be friends with me." meanwhile I am one of those signs and I'm just chilling having a good time. it's just all weird pre-judgements and confirmation bias

    the Lavender AI, and AI military tech in general is the latest way to try to absolve the soldier of guilt or culpability for mass killing. "We were just following orders" becomes "we were just trusting the statistical model/algorithm/AI"

    you can see this quite clearly in the 972mag article, the intelligence officers themselves say that they merely rubber-stamped algorithmic, statistical decisions that they felt were more objective and without emotion than their own. it is the exact same abdication of moral responsibility that the soldier obeying superior orders pretends to have done

    Yo, this is fascinating.

    If someone has an intrinsic motivation for something, and you start giving them extrinsic motivation (e.g. money or praise) then it seems like that can destroy the intrinsic motivation so that when you take away that extrinsic motivation then they lose all interest in the activity.
