Mit Friendica anstelle von Mastodon kannst Du den Feed abonnieren und ihn so in Deine Fediverse-Timeline integrieren.

Guten Morgen , wenn ich mit der Maus über einen User fahre (ohne Klick) geht normalerweise ein kleines Menü auf, dass es mir ermöglicht diesen User als Kontakt hinzuzufügen, eine Nachricht zu schreiben, mir die Netzwerkbeiträge anzuzeigen oder das Profil anzeigen zu lassen.
Dieses Menü funktioniert bei mir nicht mehr, sprich es wird mir nicht mehr angezeigt.
Habe ich hier unbewusst bei den Einstellungen etwas verändert oder gibt es an dieser Stelle ein Bug in der aktuellen Dev?

@unity Habe gerade probehalber den ScriptBlocker für meine Instanz aktiviert und bekomme dann genau das gezeigt Popup "Das Profil von..." zu sehen.
Daher vermute ich, dass irgendetwas bei Dir neuerdings das JavaScript für die Instanz blockiert.

I want to create a new functionality and I need some ideas. I want to add an option to contacts, so that their posts don't appear in the network timeline anymore. But in difference to "ignored", "collapsed" or "blocked" this has got no further consequences. It is meant especially for contacts that you want to aggregate in a dedicated channel. So for example you could decide to subscribe to a lot of news channels, but you don't want to see them in the network timeline, since they post that often. Instead you create a channel for them and browse them from time to time. Same could be an option for groups or for feeds.

This filter would work for threads that are started by this special account. I would try to expand this to posts that are reshared by these accounts or by threads that are fetched, because this account commented in the thread. (The last two parts could be more challenging)

My questions are:

  • Do you think that this is a good idea?
  • Could it be done better than an option on the contact page?
  • How could this be named, so that users don't misunderstand the functionality?

Gibts hier draussen auch Admins, die ihre Instanz auf einem Uberspace Server laufen haben? Meine Ein-Account-Instanz läuft so total langsam - der Seitenaufbau wird offenbar durch die Datenbank dermassen ausgebremst, dass das Ganze langsam unbrauchbar wird...

@noidea @tin Hm, mir hat der Provider auch mitgeteilt, dass es ab und zu Unregelmäßigkeiten mit meinen täglichen Backups gibt.
Ich habe es erklärt und vorgeschlagen, dass sie das automatische Backup bei mir abschalten sollen. Wäre ok für mich.

Daraufhin der Provider: Nee, wir schalten nur die Warnmails des Prozesses ab, die wir normalerweise bekommen und lassen es ansonsten einfach weiter laufen.
So haste zumindest ab und zu vollständige Backups, denn einige davon sind ja in Ordnung.

@FloraIncognita_DE Es würde der Welt zeigen, dass es noch andere Quellen gibt, als den App-Store. Und dass gute Apos nicht auf den Käfig angewiesen sind. Und es wäre ein Zeichen genau hierfür.
Daher: schlechte Entscheidung.

Mein Provider meldet sich u.a. auch wegen zu grosser Datenbank. Diese Friendica Instanz ist 8 Monate alt, hat einen aktiven User mit ca, 100 Kontakten. Die Haltezeit der Posts ist auf 90 Tage gesetzt. Die Datenbank ist 3.4 GB gross. Bug or Feature?

@tin Das liegt meines Erachtens im Rahmen. Habe ähnliche Eckwerte und meine DB hat so etwa 2GB.
Allerdings lasse Friendica ich auch regelmäßig aufräumen und meine Haltezeit ist etwas kürzer.

An other question about speed. I have this installed on a Uberspace server - and it is very slow. When I click on the menu entry (lets say "Group" "Friendica Support") it takes about 10 or more seconds until I see the page in the browser (Firefox). How to speed up this?

@hypolite @tin Read this too. These are instances hostet on root servers.

I tried to run my instance on a "Level 4"-shared hosting at Hetzner. Technically it worked fine, but without any performance. The support wrote at the time, that the available server performance is justly spread between all shared-hosting-domains. It is not possible to book special features.

So Uberspace - the provider of my instance - seems ok for me. It's a good compromise between cost and performance.

@tin I also tried shared-hosting with this provider and can not recommend that: Installation didn't work at all via ("git clone" and) "composer" - since then I install and update via the archives. And s far as i remember, there were other issues with unsupported functions while running the instance. Don't remember details.
Same with two other providers, as long as you i tried shared-hosting.

@noidea php-friends sounds interesting. What offer did you book there?

"worker" seems to fill up the semaphore table on my server - when it is full of about 250 entries (ipcs -s) the server will fail an I can't access the main page (error 503). It was with stable version and it is still with develop version.

@tin This sounds like your temp-path isn't accessible. It is set in
Admin > Site > Advanced > Temp path
If the path is set incorrectly, then a semaphore is created for each needed temporary file, which can no longer be released.

@tin About one year ago, we had the same issue here in support-forum.

  • Even the .sem-files are placed in the temp-path, which explains, why they can't be released after use.
  • ipcs -s shows the amount of 'existing' semaphores, ipcs -l shows the limit and ipcrm -s $id deletes them manually.
  • In this thread @montag presented a script to delete all existing semaphores at once, after setting the correct path.

@montag @tin Don't know how to fix that, but your answer confirms the assumption of the wrong path is the cause.
"/home/user/tmp" works for my instance, but it depends on your provider, which temp-path is a valid one.

@montag @tin In the mentioned thread Monday suspected that it may have happened due to an update.
The setting "tmp/domain" looks like a default-path which is used (and automatically set), when you try to set a non valid path.

@montag @tin As long as the 250 old ones exist, no new sepaphore can be created. And the old ones will not be deleted automatically, you'll have to do this by yourself.

Once done so, the new ones should be stored in the valid temp-path and will automatically be managed.

"How many are in the list" > At this moment there are 7 semaphores in my temp-path. The newest one has been created about 2 years ago.

@tux @crazy2bike @crazy2bike Ich scheine der einzige zu sein, der die auf Friendica hin optimierte App Relatica verwendet. Im Gegensatz zu Tusky und Fedilab werden hier die Kommentare unterhalb des Ursprungsbeitrags eingeordnet und nicht einfach oben in die Timeline gespült.
Einige Funktionen fehlen noch, aber das Look&Feel übertrifft für Friendica meines Erachtens bereits jetzt dasjenige der anderen Apps.
Für Masto würde ich Tusky empfehlen.

@jnbrgr Das müsste ich mir erst ansehen. Hab ich nie drauf geachtet, weil es sowieso bei jedem Empfänger anders aussieht. Je nach Plattform und/ oder Admin-Einstellungen.
Link-Vorschauen funktionieren bei mir, wenn ich den Link in das "Link with preview"-Feld kopiere und dann auf den Refresh tippe.
Gut gefällt mir das einfache Einfügen von Bildern samt Alt-Text.

Which "space" is meant here? It can't be the storage space - there is still a lot of it...
